warrenty not really?!?!?!?!
warrenty not really?!?!?!?!
so i took my car to the dealer for the 2 recalls and was talking to the service manager.. so i asked him about warrenty and what could void it and what wouldnt..
well he told me that really the RA and the EVO owners are responsible for any repairs reguardless what they are until they determine if it is something they will warrenty.. so basically he said they take extensive pictures during the repairs and check into every portion of the car to determine if it was broken under normal driving conditions or if it broke during the owner beating on the car.
it makes sense but basically he said mitsu will not warrenty anything on our cars until they perform an investigation into the conditions that were present during the break..

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Search and read about the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The normal use v. beat on would be hard to prove on most items (excluding clutch, tc, diff, brakes). But is say a strut blows (no susp mods) - then I would press hard for a replacement.
I myself am having problem with Mitsubishi regarding warranty...both lenses on my fog lights started cracking and im sure they are not caused by rock chips because the crack started from the inside.....the service manager at the dealer agreed with me and they took pictures to send to their warranty rep....the warranty rep denied my claim saying the warranty doesnt cover anything exterior?!? I called the 1-888 Mitsu number and started a case...im waiting to hear back from warranty manager hopefully today....
It always has been like that since the introduction of the evo back in 2003.
You got a handful of racers who blew up their transfer cases and tried getting Mitsu to replace it for free. Those 5k-6k rpm clutch dumps isn't considered normal driving...
Now you have a more expensive transmission. When I first bought the EVO. I knew there was no warranty with it...This ralliart however has one. And I intend to keep it for a while at least...

mitsubishi is a business and they have to do everything they can to protect their $ and their business. they cant just replace everything that breaks without investigating it. basically its to prevent people from modding the crap out of their car, driving it hard and then breaking something removing the mods and expecting mitsubishi to pay to fix it.
if you want your warranty to be useful then Id recommend doing nothing but an exhaust and maybe an intake mod anything else and you might as well forget about your warranty.
And about the fog light lens, on a case like that unless its happened to about 100 lancer/evos or so they wont do anything about it, even if the glass cracked from the inside it could have been from anything, things like that are considered wear and tear or road hazard. Now if there is NO sign of damage from the outside , ie no rock chip scratch or anything then i would agree with you mitsubishi should repair it.

I agree. Its a business and they would be stupid to not aggressively protect them selves from self moders who take it to another level. This car I have to say has the most easily accessible mods avaliable simply because its the kind of car that it is. As far as the warranty goes I intend on keeping the 5 years of warranty to its full term without compromising it. As far as the intake goes do you think the dealer will install an air intake if I take it to them to have it put on. ( this is if even if they agree to do so) Same question applies to an exhaust system. I know of places here in Toronto Canada that will do it but was wondering if the Dealer would have no problem installing these 2 items. I am guessing that these are entry level performance upgrades that dealearships from other car manufactures will carry and install for you. ie. Mazda Speed 3 ( as long as we pay...obviously) it might even eliminate any questions that COULD arise...seeing that it was Dealer installed. I have been seriously thing of an SRI or a CAI not sure yet what to go for but it would have to be one with the least amount of intake noise under load.
