185 MPH is supercar territory, I doubt an Eclipse could get there.

 

sure it could. if u rework the whole body, put on special tires, and add about 400hp (to whatever it has now)

 

And replace the transmission with a custom built box with taller gears.

Gearing-wise, you're limited to 173 MPH. Yes, I know I used info from a 2003 Spyder and you have an earlier hardtop, but you're still full of it.

got mine to 142mph last weekend! Wasn't enough road for me to top it out. The car was very stable. There was allot of sound coming threw the doors. aerodynamics weren't to bad . the car was full of crap also.

there is a huuuuge difference between 142 and 185. in fact, there is a world of diff between 142 and 162!

to the op, an ra will have a hard time getting past 140 mph due to the engine and gearing. i dont even think stock evos can get past 150

 

IX GSRs are geared for about 153 mph if I recall correctly, and they're able to use all of it. Haven't run the numbers for an X yet.

EDIT: 2008 GSR 150 MPH @ 7000 IN 5TH
