Bouncing tachometer. Help!!

I've had this car for about three months now. Brand new 2009 ralliart, less than 2k on it. This problem occurred 3 days ago and its not going away:

Randomly when I'm at a light/idling, the tachometer needle will bounce up and down (but by less than 1000rpm) and the car will slightly shake/make noise. (noise is very slight)

Before all this happened, the idling rpm was around 800-850. (is it same for everyone else?) NOW, it will be around 500 and sometimes even lower. however, it never shut off on me.

When I rev up, I can feel that there is loss of power too.

What the hell is going on?

Any chance you put in lower octane? Sounds like the X and its idle issues but no other RA owners have reported that problem that I am aware. Get to the dealer ASAP. Sensor bad, vacuum line off or something.

Dude. If your car is acting up, and it's under warranty, then there's no reason you shouldn't be taking it to the dealer.

Eh, Everynow and then I'll have an "Idle-search" going on, won't drop as low as you are describing but does search around a bit. I'm chalking it up to computer being pissed about the Humidity as of late, haven't had the problem since I installed the UR SRI.

I can confirm I've had the same problem only AFTER AMS Flashed my car, which Chris had told me is not anything that can cause issues with the engine; Nonetheless, unless you've been flashed by AMS, your problem might be something else...

Have you gotten any SES lights?

Also if your car is under warranty and it has no mods, first thing you should do is go to the dealer before asking for help in a Forum dude.

You should go asap and have it checked

Funny, you jinxed me. I was sitting in traffic tonight in my X and all of a sudden rapid up and down RPM's 3-400 swing, almost died out. Already have the latest reflash. I know its a little different but essentially the same. It was raining, high humidity and at least 85 degrees. Not sure, it smoothed itself out after a few seconds but I thought it was going to die. I had 93 in it, so I know that is not the issue. Dunno. I am not worried, and not going to the dealer, yet.

All you can do to make it better is get a tune........Maps from the factory suck and getting a tune will fix completely..no flash, full tune on dyno. All these cars are fidjity in a way until tuned.

lol... do a search. different tuners will charge different amounts. Some offer generic tunes, others will custom tune. The former being cheaper. lol.....

I'd take it to the dealer. Shouldn't be a big problem since your still stock.
Flash is about 600 bucks. You'll need it if you want to beat me...

Maybe the gas cap isn't fully locked. It has to click when you turn it...
