ASC...does nothing?

hmm...must be missing something here. my 'ASC off' button does absolutely nothing. literally, i hit it parked, driving, in gear, etc and the in-dash light stays off and absolutely nothing happens. thoughts? car is 2 weeks old and this is the first ive even touched the button.

hey mate, you have to press it for a prolong period for it to turn off. I think the dealer told me it was 8 seconds.

damn! 8 seconds? ill give it a try but that sounds like overkill doesn't it? wonder why they would design it like that.

The ASC is part of a safety feature of the car. This probably why there's a delay when you turn it off. Also I think you hold the ASC switch for five seconds to turn it off.

yeah about 5 seconds, i'm sure it's safety thing with your knee being close i guess in case you accidentally bump into it that it wont turn off? That or maybe they really want you to second guess whether you should be turning it off.

Yeah it's 5 seconds to turn it on, but when you want to turn it off it is instant.

I don't think that is correct well atleast not for the EVOs....On the EVO there is 3 mode... ASC ON, ASC OFF and ASC OFF OFF...Yes that sounds weird but that is how it is....On is full electronical control and off is partial and OFF OFF is just fully OFF meaning no assist....I am assuming RA is same no?

that's exactly right; since ASC is ALWAYS on, unless you want it off.

It resets itself every time you turn the car off and on. Just a liability thing I guess.
