I got all her insurance info, believe that. Her company already called me saying she admitted fault, and are sending out an adjuster this week. What am i looking at in cost though? Should the door be replaced since it is only 3 months old? I don't want frickin' bondo on my car, it's an insult.

 

After my dakota r/t got smashed and having been a victim of this kind of auto damage... I can tell u the body shop will most likely pull the door out or push it out from the inside and resurface the damage. but as for your sideview mirror... might just be factory replaced, can't tell from the angles how f'ed it is.

and did you put blue trim all around your car?

 

No that blue trim is black shading on a crappy cell phone in Florida sunlight.

 

ouch, that sux, i would be pisssseedddd. They wouldn't normally replace the doorskin unless the damage is past the point of repair, the bodyshop might be willing to do it if you come to some kind of arrangement with them (pay them extra for the part).

being here in Fl as well, this scares me

 

all replacement will be made with new carbon fiber doors! ;-)

 

if the sheet metal is creased, it'll have to be replaced, but all they do is put a new skin on. that way you keep all your original body panels and serial numbers, thus not hurting your resale.

 

Looks like they will also need to touch up the fender as well. I had a guy try to pass me on the left (on oncoming traffic for us) and I nailed him when turning left. He was found at fault. I did the walk around with the insurance adjuster and saw when I collided with him that the headlight and side mirror were also scratched up. They replaced it all.

Sorry to see this wreck. Its horrible how people become so zoned out when driving.

Well for an update, my dealer is ordering the parts. They are reskinning the door and are able to mend the fender. There may be more damage as they haven't seen the cross beam in the door yet or the internals. So far though it's $1100 not including rental and repairs are 4 days long. So thank god for the other drivers insurance.

 

not bad, i figured they wouldnt replace the door at least htey are reskinning the door and not just trying to pop the dents out. just be glad the lady fessed up and you were able to get to her in time.

my lancer has 3 bad door dings on my passenger side front door that were caused by the same car , paint was scraped off not as bad as yours at all but unfortunately for me i never found out who it was, there was no note or anything.
