Spike jump in RMP while driving?
Hi guys,
I'm newb here and I have a problem thats been bugging my mind for awhile. I was going around ~42 mph then accidently switched to Manual mode through the paddle shifter to 4th gear. I either upshift or downshift (can't remember) and there was a huge jump in the RMP meter.. roughly ~2000 to 4000 rmp. Is this normal?
I then used the Gearshift to shift it Automatic (position) to Manual and back to Automatic position --hoping that the car would change back to Auto and it did. Could this somehow damage the transmission?
After this incident, I have a feeling that when the car is shift from D1 -> D3 in Automatic, it sounds heavy compare to before. It doesn't sound as smooth as well, like the one in this video.

I say you might have bumped the downshift paddle...going from 2k to 4k sounds like it went down one gear, that's all. Not a big deal, the transmission already does rev-matching on down shifts.
Have you driven it around in sport mode at all yet? Do that and get used to it first, then go drive around on normal mode.
. You won't get scared so easily.
