To be fair, we shouldn't confuse TSB's with recalls. Only the Fuel Rail and Airbag are recalls, everything else is a service campaign or TSB.

Honestly, Mitsubishi vehicles aren't that bad. My 97 Audi A4 had seven recalls and 42 TSB's.

Now if their service departments would stop trying to get me to sign that thing that says "I was informed of the service appointments at the dealership that prevent my warranty from being voided and declined them" when I've told them time and time again on the phone that I've done the required maintenance and then some on my own without their markup (got my oil changed at 2000 and 5000 kms instead of only at 6000 per their recommendation).

Well ur right.

I've got friends and coworkers with mitsubishis and I haven't really heard any complaints. 2 of em have galants with near 200k on em no problems. There's one with some mitsubishi that has to be at least 20 years old, everything is falling off the thing and it still runs.

At least they're not hiding some kind of horrible throttle by wire flaw by blaming our floor mats.

But still its annoying, I've had to bring my car in like 5 times in 6 months. Not off to a good start, esp. as a mechanical engineer there are certain problems that our team would've caught almost right off the bat i.e. air bag sensor, hood latch, fuel rail, and maybe brake booster, rattle might've been a manufacturing problem.

Everyone here bought a first-run vehicle...which will ALWAYS have issues. You shouldn't complain! At least none of these are extreme or urgent! Just wait until your next oil change and have them do things then! No time lost!

This is the title:

"SRS FRONT IMPACT SENSORS — SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN"

So, this one is not only a service campaign, it's a RECALL campaign.

That's a matter of priority and perspective.

Having the fuel rail potentially crack and leak fuel near a glowing hot turbo or having your air bags fail halfway into a drive might not be critical to you but it is to other people.

Also, I'm sure there are a lot of people here who change their own oil and/or have mods and/or live far away from a dealer. That means potentially a lot of down time to take it in for so many of these recalls or service campaigns along with potentially having to demod the car.

Might be no time lost for you if you go to your dealer for an oil change but I'd rather not pay $80 for an oil change that I can do for $15. And if it takes half a day to take it in, service, and go back home, it's still half a day. Multiply that by the 4-5 times I've had to take mine in for these things and they owe me almost 2 monthly payments. Maybe we shouldn't make such a huge deal of this but to say we shouldn't complain is going a bit overboard.

I stopped up to my dealer on Tuesday and got my fuel system recall taken care of, and they looked into it and my car is definitely effected by this airbag recall as well. The parts for it are on back order and I will have to make yet another trip to the dealer (1.5 hours away)... Love the car but hate taking it into the shop for "fixes" vs. having them do good things to my car.

Called my dealer to get more info. Gave them my last 8 digits of the vin... said that they have no information of any kind. even though I'm in idaho, a non-effected state, but I'm going home to New Hampshire, and EFFECTED state, for a month... you'd think they'd have some info on this so-called "campaign".

picked up my 09 RA on tues. went back to the dealer weds. becuase the clowns didn't put the key for the wheel locks in the glove box. i searched the entire car. couldn't find it. and i need to swap on winter rims and tires.

what i thought would be a quick trip. they could take their master key set. remove my locks. supply new ones and give me the key. well not exactly. service writes it up. then i'm asked by service advisor if i have more time because there are 2 outstanding recalls on my car. i was a little shocked. I would have thought that this would have been checked before the car left the lot. Ended up there for 3hrs to have my front impact sensor recall performed. as well as some fuel return line recall done as well.

anyone know whats up with the fuel return line? fire hazard i take it?

I understand the severity of the matter but really when ever u buy a 1st gen car u pretty much signed a guinea pig agreement. You have to be prepared for recalls and/or TSB's. I also would hate if my dealer was more than an hour away but it is what it is. If you don't want to deal with issues wait for the 2nd or 3rd year..

Trust me I design products for the consumer and commercial market along with manyfacturing machinery every day, I understand what's involved in a first generation product but there are certain problems that aren't "unforseen" but rather seems to have been carelessly overlooked.

I'm prepared for tsb's to deal with stuff like the fuel rail, which is something unforseen but not an incorrectly spec'ed air bag sensor. The window rattle I'm willing to deal with because that's not a design problem, it was a manufacturing issue. Hood latch issue seems to have been a design issue along the same lines of the air bag sensor. Brake booster also. Looks like someone didn't read the spec sheets on the components and verify them with the operational range of the car.
