Hi guys,

I was driving last night when i got rear ended by a drunk driver. It looks like my bumper's gonna need replacement and the guy said he'd rather not go through insurance. However, all the dealers "service centers" are closed since its Saturday so I can't get a quote until Monday and I would have to report it before tomorrow if I'm gonna go through insurance.

Does anyone know how much it would cost approximately to replace my rear bumper with paint and installation and everything?

Should I replace it with an Evo X rear bumper? How much would it cost and would it fit fine?

Do you have any other suggestions? I don't want it to go on my car's history that its been in an accident. What should I do?

You need to really really report that. you could have hidden damage underneath that bumper. who cares if it goes on the history it is what it is. Long as its fixed correctly the car will still have same value if im not mistaken the evo X bumper is alittle bit wider then the standard lancer. There are evo x body kits for lancer that will fit or a completely new aftermarket body kit but not reporting this is not a smart thing to do. you might think its only a ripped bumper but frame damage underneath exhaust hangers could be shifted as well. so yea report it so you can get the money then go from there if you want after market rear bumper and the evo rear has two holes for exhaust btw

 

Evo X wont work. Body is wider so youd have to replaced quarter panels and doors. Its what I plan on doing =]. But no it wont work on stock body.

You would be stupid not to go through your insurance company. You cannot trust anyone nowadays.
