Ralliart Alarm Issues

Hey all,

From about 2 weeks into owning my 09 RA I started getting problems with the alarm activation of my car. The alarm works fine, actually it works TOO fine. At completely random intervals (ranging from multiple times a day to going 2 weeks with no hiccup what so ever) my alarm system will go off 30 seconds after I lock my car and walk away. I know this is the time it takes for the alarm to go 100% active but c'mon ... its a real P.I.T.A.

I park my car in the same places daily, level ground, no loud noises near by etc etc.

The dealership has no idea what is causing it and could not replicate the problem when I took it in for the 1500km service.

If any one can shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers,
Matt.

Is it the stock alarm system? This is the first I've heard of this...very odd. You're not bumping the FAST key wrong are you? . It could be something wrong with the FAST key electronics...I can't say for sure, and honestly have no idea. Keep us updated if you do find anything though! Good luck.

Maybe you've got gremlins kicking your panels after you lock the car, setting the alarm off.

Keep your camera phone handy. Record each time it goes off. If they don't fix it soon, file for "Lemon" and get a new ride. Don't let it go to long.

That sort of intermittent stuff should not be allowed.

Maybe a dirty or defective door or trunk pin? Do you ever have issues with the dome light coming on randomly?

Oops, see you are from Down Under. Don't know if they have a Lemon Law or not.

A few months ago here in the states, a guy had Lamborghini refund his purchase price plus all expenses for his Gallardo because of squeaky brakes they could not fix.

Very confused, what are you referring to?

I have the blinky light in the dash, and it corresponds whenever I open the trunk. It also has an engine immobilizer.

^Huh? I have a factory alarm...blinky red light and all. Base+Navi on mine. I've set it off a couple times when creepy people circle my car in parking lots/sister smashed her face falling onto the door panel.

Edit: Jinx. HA!

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Correct, I'm in Australia and the AUS spec RA's have the same alarm, immobiliser package as the EVO X's do (window breaking sensors, tilt and yaw sensors, etc etc)

I actually did record a video of it occuring and have emailed it to the service dep't at my dealership. That was a week ago and haven't heard anything back from them yet.

Nice idea Piper747, I'll check the door and trunk pins but I've never had any issues with the dome light, all works fine in that regard.

It's really got me beat and is quite an inconvenience. I have to linger around my car for 30 secs after every time I drive it, hand on the remote's lock button waiting for the alarm to go off so I can immediately stop it.

Cheers for the comments so far guys.

Mine did it to. I ended up turning it off.

By turning it off do you mean permanently disabling your alarm system?
That's not really an option that I'm prepared to consider.

I'll see what the service dep't says when they get back to me.

Did you get two FAST keys with yours? If so, keep the one you've been using elsewhere and try using just the "backup" FAST key and see if it occurs. At least with that you can say it is definitely not the FAST key.

I'm curious to know if all RA's have an alarm? I have no blinky red thingy on my dash...
