First snowy winter drive (the good, bad, ugly)

So....
Saw some threads asking about how the car will do in winter weather so I thought I would post my experience from this weekend.
Specs on my ralliart, stock except,K&N filter, JDM evo recirc valve, RRM springs, 18x8 wheels with 225/45 eagle GT tires.

First the Good ..drove to Snowshoe WV in 8-12 inches of snow(to snowboard), the roads are twisties with 9% slopes etc.. The car driven "normally" performed perfectly, no slipping or anything in snow mode, didn't play much in the other modes. In Manumatic 2nd and 3rd gear with 50% to 70% gas pedal pressure gave a perfect controlled drifting environment, I had the *** end out but still felt in full control

The Bad ....
Braking still scares me even when its dry out with this car, I did not feel that in the snow the brakes even helped at all , I gave a couple test runs and the car was not as stable as I would have liked But they did the job (kinda)

The UGLY.....
ORDER RALLYARMOR !!!!
I got back and washed my car from all the salt/sand/rocks etc....
I have about 30 rock chips on my rear quarter panels (not an exaggeration) it is horrible, think they only put one thin layer of paint on our cars, I could not believe how bad it was, it was so bad I thought the rock chips where dirt
So to all you out there 3m the quarter panels and order rallyarmor

if anyone has any questions feel free to ask ....
I recommend the Goodyear Eagle GT as an good buy for all season tire, def. not as good as dedicated snows, but can hang if you need them too.

500 miles and the rock chips make my car look like it has 50,000 miles on it. Totally unacceptable.

Man, lucky u, even the resorts upstate just started getting snow like, last weekend!

I've been thinking of taking the my rear rallyarmor flaps off just to see that huge rooster tail of snow behind me. Since everything back there is plastic, there's no corrosion to worry about.

Still no snow here in MI...I'm impatiently waiting to get my snowplow mode on. I am envious of your snow-escapades.

CORRECTION: No snow here in the DETROIT area of Michigan. The west side of the state and northern Michigan got TONS of snow. Lansing, Detroit and Flint areas are the only areas that didn't.

What did they treat the ice with on the roads? Was there a lot of gravel or chemical?

It was Salt in Virginia and rocks in West Virginia, the rock chips are totally self inflicted from rolling out on those back country roads ....

I my continental dws tires. Halfway between a/s and winter.

Should've taken video last weekend when I was going 85 down the road with 2 inches of slush on the ground. I looked in the rear view mirror and all I saw was this cloud of debris like 10ft off the ground. Not even gonna imagine what it would've been like w/o the mud flaps.

LMAO man. It snowed a solid inch or more last night, and I drove right in the middle of what looked like a blizzard! You got what you wished for. I don't have my snow tires on yet (Pirelli P240 Winter Sport), but I gotta say, my car still didn't do too bad. My last car (2003 OZ Lancer) with all season tires didn't do as good as my RA with the summer Yokohama's.
