Brushless car wash.

Anyone tried running it through a brushless car wash? Manual says not to cause the jets of water could accidentally open the trunk by hitting the trunk release button. Aside from that, any problems with soapy water flooding the engine compartment through the hood vent?

I must have missed that part of the manual. That's pretty funny.

Aside from the possible trunk issues, the soapy water won't hurt anything assuming you are not revving your engine while water is being shot at your car. You will be fine. =)

Hat jet would have to be extremly accurate and hard to open the trunk.

I've had no issues with a brushless carwash.

That's what I thought until I was washing the car in my drive way one day and the hose popped the trunk open, almost flooded it.

I prefer to find the car washes with the self-serve stalls. Automatic ones don't seem to get the car very clean.

Be careful if it has a blow drying system when you exit too...I read in the X forums that people could hear their roof making a popping sound when flexing from the air pressure.

The main reason to not go through a brushless car wash is they are very very hard on your paint. Hand washing is the best thing for your paint. I would rather wait 6 months to wash my car then run it through any car wash.

Yeah for sure let all the salt and other chemicals chew away at your clear coat. Way better choice

You leave bird **** on your car for 6 months and not wash it, and i will go through touchless washs and lets compare whos paint is worse off.

+1

The touchless don't always seem to get everything off but its better then leaving all those chemicals on your car all winter I think.

agreed!
I've been through the brushless car wash a few times now, no issues with the trunk release.
However, be careful with your rims. Some places have the wheel lock mechanism in place that detects whether you're in place. If you're not careful, you'll scratch the rims.

Thats when you get yourself some hand warmers and a pair of dish washing gloves and wash the car yourself outside lol. Atleast thats what I do to my Evo but I'll bring all my car washing supplies to the car wash and use the self service stalls since I wont wash my car outside at my house so I dont have to deal with all the ice forming from the water or the pipes freezing.
