Good Deal?
Good Deal?
Hey guys,
Just bought my ralliart a few weeks back and have started to patrol the forums.
I think i have a decent deal on my hands. All from a 08 evo gsr... Recaro front seats with brackets, OEM Evo X intercooler upper and lower pipes, oem bov and front mount license plate holder for $800. I was researching on this forum and another one but concerns about a few things, hopefully you guys can help me out.
1) is upgrading the intercooler worth it in your guys opinion? As i could probably save a bit of cash if i dont opt for it.
2) When swapping the seats from my ralliart to the evo x seats the airbag light might go off, will this in anyway interfere with the airbag deploying?
3) Any other part you guys would recommend?
Thanks,

i gaurantee the airbag light will go off. each seat is actually registered with your car and replacing it with a different seat will mean you'll trip the airbag code. doesn't mean they won't deploy, but it does mean you should take it to the mitsu dealer and have them re-register your new seats. after that problem solved
i have verified you can in fact unplug your seats and plug them back in without the code tripping, as long as you have both battery cables off while doing it; however, this is not the case for you. i did it to my car to dynamat the entire floorboard. make sure you don't lose the two springs in each airbag harness! when you pull the white safety clip out the whole thing will shoot apart unless you're careful

if you can get a deal like that, jump on it for sure. the larger intercooler is a good upgrade for the car, even if there is nothing else done to it, and will not need a tune for installation compatibility. as far as the seats go, you will probably have to have the "occupant classification module" (ocm) re-programmed by the dealer in order to compensate for the new seats otherwise the srs light will be there. as far as the airbags not working if the light is on, i dont think it will disable all airbag deployment, but im almost positive it will shut off the seat-side airbag system and possibly the side curtain system as well. i'll have to look into that further to give you a for sure answer tho.
as long as the seats come from another
with a similar srs system (you said 08 evo x, so no problems there), you should have no problems whatsoever once all the connectors are on and the seats are programmed into the car.
