Question 3rd gear 5th gear shudder

I can make it happen if in 3rd or 5th gear. If i flat foot the go pedal in one of those gears in manual mode at around 2,100 rpm and than let off the gas and coast. I feel the shudder once the gears engage and the engine slows the car. Any thoughts. Has anyone ever felt this before? The car is bone stock.

Shudder is there until I hit the gas again or change gears. This is something that will happen every time I drive the car like this??? This is a a fairly good shudder. Hard to believe this is a quirk of our cars.

Is this normal or do I have a problem that needs looking into? Anyone?

Its really hard to tell whats normal and whats not having a tcsst tranny in our cars. When I first had my RA, it was making all kinds of weird noises, low idle, etc. This was also bone stock. I would say take it to the stealership and if anything, just get it documented that you were there for something you felt was not right. That way if it really is an issue, when it poops on you, you will have documentation showing you tried to get it fixed the first time. These types of things are important when dealing with Mitsu, just one less reason for them to deny your claim. Even though you dont have mods, who knows, they could say it was your fault for not getting it taken care of when you noticed something.

I believe after reading so many forums this is somewhat normal for SST. My car did this unti i reflashed the ECU and added a boost pill for more power. No i have no shudder.

This statement just blows me away! 3rd party tuners are tuning our sst better than Mitsu can? What is this world coming to!!! I guess as long as it is fixed....

Its not that Mitsubishi doesn't know how to tune the SST, they just have to be ultra conservative because of warranties, recalls, and a whole host of other things when engineering a car. Also the SST is a new transmission that was probably rushed a bit, and Mitsubishi didn't have the time, or possibly the budget, to do proper NVH testing which can be quite tedious and expensive. Heck judging by all of the other noises coming from the Lancer, I doubt Mitsu engineers did any NVH testing.
