Are the RA's notorious for tranny problems? Makes me question even getting one now...

No. There is just very over protective software that is not widely understood. Myself included. Give it time.

I don't plan on modding my RA out too crazily.. Prob just a CAI, BOV, and a tune will do for me. I shouldn't have problems then right?

I know I've heard of the MR's having problems once they get past like 370WHP

^ Stay below 300 ft/lbs of tq and you will be fine. With the mods you are looking at you will be quite safe.

I have Cobb AP Stage 1 93 octane, UR Cat back , UR Upper Intercooler Pipe,
HKS Drop in filter.

I have no tranny issues yet my performance from stock is quite significant. I estimate 240-245 ish Wheel HP (That’s from my official ASSDYNO) lol prob more like 230 - 235 but who knows till I dyno it.

To the OP I hope things work out for ya.

Holy Shiznit did you say 74,000? You sure have put on the Km's I will be stretching to have 18,000KM in a year of ownership.

In hindsight do you still think the AMS tranny cooler is worth the purchase?

Genetix, that really sucks. Damn you have bad luck. Hopefully it doesn't cost your left nut to fix it. I don't really want to say it but I mentioned it in a couple other threads with tunes by Lightspeed, you should tell Cam that the stock clutches should only be tuned to 300wtq cause they can't handle 340+ wtq (which you would think he would have figured out already). I've seen 3 or 4 others tuned there with 340wtq+. Didn't Smok have #'s like that and have a handful of diff problems in the first few weeks? I know it looks cool posting a dyno with 350whp and 348wtq but I'd be happy with 320/300 and knowing my tranny will last years longer then with the bad *** dyno sheet.

BTW I did 22,000km in one year. Damn you drive alot.

I'd be curious to see what's actually toast about the transmission? If this transmission isn't being replaced under warranty then why wouldn't you be going to the SSP clutch packs, which would put you a step in the right direction and save you $$$?

He's getting the new SST under warranty (it sounds anyway), but he still has to fork out for the labor. I don't really get how that's working, but he's in Canada, so you know, Canucks are crazy and all...hopefully he could shed some light on that.

Good luck btw genetix, hope this works out for ya

You very lucky to have friends at your dealership. Over here in the states they would blame a boost gauge for the destroying the transmission.

Why not put a evo X gsr tranny?? that would be something cool and different and you could really get the whp and wtq you really want. As soon has my warranty finishes I will be swapping for the 5 spd from the evo gsr. Before that I will tune the car with the sst and see what kind of power it can handle.

LOL really? its not as easy as you think dude...alot more modification than just changing the tranny to 5 speed
