Few general Qs about RA

I'd like to buy RA but have few questions.

1. Number gained.
I heard RA ahs great potential in custom tune.
But what's the numbers should I expect? I think I saw RA with 260+ whp.
Can this be true from bone stock/very lightly modded RA?
My plan is bone stock RA + Evo X IC(maybe) + Boost pill(probably) and custome tune.

2. Tuner or tune?
I live at San Antonio, TX, and haven't seen many performance shop around here,
and I do not trust any getto mechanics.
And I need ability to go back to stock when I need, like service at dealership.
So I like to go for tuner, like AP, but what you guys think?
Is there any good tuner with canned tune what will work with Evo X IC and/or boost pill?
Is there any good/trust worthy shops around here at San Antonio tX?
And how much is resonable for tuner and/or custom tuning at shop?
(FYI, I am very noob for custom tuning processes/methods but can use tuners.)

3. Evo X IC
I found local guy selling his Evo X IC.
Obviously it is larger than stock RA, and larger IC is always better.
But what are true/acutal benefits/disadvantages from larger IC in RA??
Any gains?? Troubles? Hard to install?? Requires custom tune??

4. TPMS
I really hate stock rims. They are plain ugly.
Also I've heard stock tires are suck as well.
To swap those for other aftermarket rims/tires,
how do I transfer TPMS sensors??
For example, my current ride, Mustang has bands on rims and sensors are attached to them.
To trasfer them, I have get new bands, install sensors and tires,
and use Ford's TPMS reset tool to reset/calibrate the sensors.
How about in RA??

5.2010/2011
What are differences between two??? NOthing at all?
I heard 2011 has different style of antenna.
I went to local dealership, and they just told me there's nothing different
but as all ways, I never trust them.
Couple of things I concern from 2010 are why no engine start button and
why RCA jack instead of regular 3.5 pi stereo jack for aux input for audio.

6. Overall expression.
I need your expression about your RAs.
Any pros and cons will be appreiciated.
Even it is based on your personal preferences/situations, let me share those.
Especially, things for Sedan and sportback will be very useful for me.

7. Dealership among members
My plan is, sell my car, buy some sedan with cash, around 10k in cost for my mom,
and apply for loan for RA with down pay of around 5K.
IS there any memeber works for Mitsbishi delaership with forum special price????
Whta I'm looking for is Sportsback, white. No Recaro seats nor nav.

From my countless hours wasted on the forums this is what I can say to that:

1. 300hp is maximum. Even at that you're putting alot of strain on the transmission. Upgrading to the performance clutch pack and upgraded cooler is an option.

2. No clue!

3. Stock EVO X Intercooler and piping is a relatively straight forward procedure. It's a bit of a hassle to shoehorn the unit in there and have it not get int the way of other stuff. I believe there's at least one post of guys installing them. He even has the numbers to show significant and more efficient air cooling.

4. Don't know about this but I've seen lots of guys with new rims so they've either done it or just scrapped the tire pressure thingy. Now I'm gunna go check out the unit on my car. And hey I like the stock rims! We also get all seasons in the great white north. They hold on pretty well but we'll see once the snow comes in another couple months.

5. No difference between the two years. As far as RCA .vs. auxilliary jack? No idea, perhaps this is how Rockford Fosgate does all their audio as having a seperate left and right is more efficient then just the one male connector.

6. I've had the car for almost 2 months and it's great. I've never had a turbo car before so once that thing kicks in it's worth every penny. It has lots of room inside, comfortable even the wife loves it. As far as cons, perhaps the trunk could be bigger, jerky shifts when engine/transmission is cold, no standard HID's, projector lights and sport pedals. I'm not sure if you're getting the Recaro package but they are awesome seats... just horribly uncomfortable. I love the way the sedan looks but no doubt you have a heck of a lot more room with the sportback. It's complete preference. I just don't like the lights on the sportback.

7. Well as far as getting a deal or whatever just do your research and negotiate with the invoice pricing in mind (add about 2-3% on top for dealer). I financed it for 72 months at 0.8%. They also had 0% for 60 months. I'm not sure if it's the same down south.

Anyways good luck!

1. With a base map tune and boost pill alone, you can expect low 13's in the 1/4 mile. I don't rate the power because it will vary from dyno to dyno.

2. There should be a competent tuner somewhere in Texas that you can go to. There are so many fast cars coming out of there.

3. The EVO X FMIC is a great upgrade that does not sacrifice anything. You get the OEM fit and finish as well as a better intercooler. The stock one gets heatsoaked quickly and loses its efficiency. Even the butt dyno will feel it. You will greatly benefit from it out there. You get even more gains with a larger FMIC.

4. The wheels and tires stink. You can swap over your OEM TPMS sensors, but it cost extra money to remove. If you buy a new set of wheels add $200 for brand new valve stems TPMS ones. Plus, add $50-$100 to get them recalibrated.

5. 2010/2011 diffrences? I don't know. Nothing special from what I've seen. 09/10 had a sportback model and interior changes (cubby in center console, white lcd dash)

6. The Sedan can fit a lot of crap. The rear seats fold down and you can fit so much in the large trunk. Tranny fluid changes cost alot. $350 DYI too. It guzzles gas 20-22mpg. The handling isn't as confident as an evo, but is fun. It has a lot of bodyroll. The SST is awesome and shifts so fast. Modding is very easy.

7. I would try to get a larger downpayment, but if you want a lower car note. It helps a lot for mods...

Stop thinking whp. Start thinking wtq.
How much $ do you wish to spend? Most running OEM clutches limit themselves to 300wtq.
The higher the torque=more stuff ($$$) you'll need to get it to the wheels.

Depends on what you want to do, but it sounds like you need to go to a shop. San Antonio has good shops. Look in the tuning section of this forum. They'll likely make your car faster than you'll want to drive it on the crappy side streets of SA.

The LLLOOONNNGGGEEERRR you keep intake temperatures cooler, the LLLOOONNNGGGEEERRR your timing curve will remain advanced. The only disadvantage, is that it didn't come stock with a larger I/C.

Same, except our sensors are part of the valve stem. Make a pressurized cannister and throw them in the trunk if it is too much of a hassle.

Nothing really.
What?!?! No Engine Start button?!?! We have a switch. It is quite simple to operate, by grabbing the lever and turning clockwise. Concern #1 SOLVED: I am told we can order a 'Start' button from Japan, but you will still have to turn the switch to "On" before you push the button. Seems a little counterintuitive, but hey-to each their own.
RCA-Out: Go on the Bay of E and buy an "RCA to 3.5mm female" cable. Run it through the tunnel and into the cubby. Now your player is super-duper concealed! Concern #2 SOLVED.

I try not to fart in/on my, or anyone's RA. However if you need me to, I will make an exception, and fart in your RA.

You lost me. Help me out.

You wish to:
  1. Sell your car.
  2. Buy your mother 'some sedan' with $10,000.00US of the proceeds.
  3. Apply for an auto loan.
  4. Cash-in-pocket of $5,000.00US as a down-payment for your intended automobile.
If read correctly, I would:
  • Find your mother a used car at the same dealership you wish to purchase an RA.
  • Negotiate with the dealership on 3 automobile sales (2 you are buying + 1 you are selling. Inform the dealership you will bring in a 3rd customer who is buying your car as a dealership "charge-through." Now, the dealership has potential to move (3) cars instead of just (1).
  • Finally, take the buyer of your car to the same dealership, conduct the charge-through, and finish the contracts on your (2) cars.
