Would it be wise to use Slick 50?

I have had my RA tuned by the folks over at AMS. I was wondering if it would be wise to put "Slick 50" in the car. I have heard that it improves performance and protects the internals of the engine well.

Is there any other product that is recommended over Slick 50?

Its snake oil. Stick to full synthetics like AMSOIL or Royal Purple if you want the extra protection because you run the car on the track. If you only drive the car on the street, Mobil 1, Castrol edge, and the like will suit you just fine.

Slick 50 is teflon, a solid, in suspension. It has been known to clog lifters and oil passages over time. Total waste of money and may damage the motor. All of these additives and treatments are complete bunk. Stick to quality oil and regular oil and filter changes.

i usto use Dura Lube back when they had those comercials about engines that could run without oil without seizing for a few miles,,, it was pretty impressive the test they had,,, i also used it in my 2 cycle nitro methane RC cars, and for sure the piston to cylinder friction felt lesser

put a tornado in your intake and a magnet on your fuel line to align ions and you'll be all set

I used Slick 50 when I first bought a 1992 Plymouth Sundance(same car as a Dodge Shadow), and that thing never had a problem with the engine and ran over 150,000 miles before I finally got rid of it just because I wanted a new car(It still ran fine though). So, I'm not sure if the Slick 50 had anything to do with that, but I certainly don't have anything bad to say about the product.

I assure you it had nothing to do with it.

Or you could just use Valvoline Power Full Synthetic or MaxLife Full Synthetic. They will guarantee your engine for up to 300,000 miles. But then again, anyone that changes the motor oil with synthetic every 3,000 miles and is driving a bone stock car will achieve this. This is no revelation. Just regular maintenance will give you this result. Regular maintenance is everything. Do everything by the book and you will have no problems for a very very long time.

That does makes sense. Speaking of regular maintenance and doing everything that is listed in the maintenance log ... Every 3000 mile checkup includes oil change, and other things that the dealer will inspect, but not necessarily change. Like at 15,000 miles there is no need to inspect if my shocks are good or not. I am sure they are fine roughly until 65,000 miles. Of course, this depends on how well the car is driven. So, I was thinking of going in the next time and only getting an oil change which should cost me around $30, instead of the usual $75 every 3,000 miles.

STAY AWAY FROM QUICK LUBE PLACES!!!!

I see soooooo much damage caused by them on a daily basis

Look for a good independent repair shop, but dont expect a fully synthetic oil change to run you $30!

Life of shocks are around 30,000 miles. Large majority don't ever replace anything on the suspension system. Unless of coarse you are lowering your car or it breaks. LOL
