I just upgraded all my relays to blue and the new grey MFI...see picture. Car drives great and starts perfect in cold weather now.

Well, I had it in the dealer yesterday, and had them check it out, but of course, it started fine for them. They also checked my relays but since I have the most recent version of them, they figured there would be no need to change them.

However, next time this happens (and it will) I will call them up again and ask them to keep the car overnight hoping it will do it again in the morning when it's cold.

I had all my relays swapped out as well and still have an occasional cold start issue still.

Does anyone know the brand and part number of the previous relays (the black and green ones). I want to try and find a different kind of sealed relay that could work here.

Go to page 4 https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...age-4-a-4.html

You can buy the part from Mitsubishiparts.com they are like $15 a piece depending on if you want to change everything. You only need 1 which you will swap out your current black one for a blue one. It is the same fuse as the DRL's.

Part# is 8627A024

Here is the pic I took. The blue one is the one you are changing. It is normally black.

dude i have been looking for that TSB for a while thanks now HB Mitsubishi has no choice but to change them for me thanks mate

Actualy, those are the Mitsubishi part numbers. Not the actual brand / model of relay.

For example, the part number 8627A024 from mitsubishi is the new blue relay. This relay is an Omron G8HN-1A2T-R relay.

I've been searching a bit and have found a site which lists a series of compatible relays and once in particular caught my attention. But before pursuing trying to order one, I'd like to make sure it's not the black or green relays that were problematic before the blue ones.

If anyone is interested. The relay I'm checking out is the Tyco Electronics VFMA-21F41-S01. It's a sealed type relay which might help (if the current ones aren't sealed, I didn't find this info).

And here's the webpage that lists a whole bunch of relays that might be compatible to what we need.

And another quick research, and using PCToolsWiki's picture as reference, I can now officially state that the relays we have are NOT sealed.

I can clearly read on the relay pictured there the numbers 1A2T just before the nM. Omron also makes the G8HN-1A4T which is the exact same thing, but SEALED. I think that would be a winner to solve all our problems.

As far as I know you switch to Blue to fix the seal problem. I have yet to have a problem since I switched.

The new blue relays are still unsealed. In the picture you posted yourself, we can see the part number being G8HN-1A2T.

Here is the Datasheet : http://www.fek.by/doc/components/L_O/Omron/g8hn_j.pdf
If you go a few lines down to "specifications", you'll see the G8HN-1A2T part number listed as the unsealed 12VDC SPST relay. The G8HN-1A4T is the sealed variant of this relay.

Well, my Mitsu got a good cold weather test this morning. In the night it was around -30'C, and in the morning still -25'C (around -13'F)....

MMCS wouldn't start (1st pic) before it heated up the HDD for a few minutes :P

Car started fine (I had the block heater on for 2 hours first of course), there was a squealing sound at first (fan belt?) but then everything was fine. A few more degrees less and diesel car drivers will have frozen fuel...

My wife's MINI wasn't that fortunate, the power steering system decided to dump all the hydraulic oil on the ground
