Door rattling with stock speakers
Door rattling with stock speakers
In the last few days I've been hearing more and more rattling coming from my door panels when I'm listening to music with a decent amount of bass. Still have the non-RF speakers with the Bass setting only on +1, anything more than that sounds like garbage. From what I can tell, I know that the driver door, front passenger door, and rear left passenger door rattle but I have yet to confirm if the rear right passenger door rattles as well. The front passenger door is definitely more pronounced and rattles like it's going to fall off. I've only had this car a little over two weeks and these are STOCK SPEAKERS... what's the deal? I'm already trying to find out where another rattling from the dashboard is coming from, hell my 2002 Eclipse never had rattling this bad until I started having 1000+ watts of bass going, and the interior plastic was cheaper IMO.
I plan on doing that when I replace the audio later on, but it would be nice to have at least a temp fix for now.
I now know why the Lancer is called a rattlebox... lol.

Nope, the speakers are all fine. I know it's the panelling rattling and vibrating, just don't know what to do to fix it... although I shouldn't have to fix anything as it's a new effing car.
I think I figured out where the rattle in the door panels are coming from. In the door panel pockets towards the rear of the car. You could just jam something in there for the time being.

Don't discount the possibility of blown speakers just yet... I've had plenty of blown speakers in the past, and they typically make a "rattling" when playing bass but otherwise sound normal.
If you unscrew the speaker and play some music while holding it in your hand, you should be able to easily determine if the cone is broken or buzzing.

I have the Rockford system too, and my door panels rattle ALOT, just like the OP described his. You're lucky lol...@BravoZero, as long as its not a blown speaker, i dont think there's anything we can do.
LOL, 3K seems to be the resonating frequency for a lot of things in cars.. My Evo has so many random rattles at 3k it is retarded. I would suggest putting some sort of padding between the speaker and the door. The stock padding is teribad.
Ya its only 3K if I'm not on the throttle. If I hold 3 K everything mostly fine, but take my foot off and sometimes I get like 3-4 things at the same time going, drives me ape-****. I got the glove box fixed, but the worst for me is the piece around the A/C & Heat controls; that thing must not be fully connected cause it's always making noise. I'm thinking about driving a screw though it shut the hell up (not really..., but maybe if it gets bad enough.....)

It's mostly a 80..100Hz rumble, which makes everything rattle.
