Newbie question

Hi every one my name is Eddie and I am the proud owner of a 2011 ralliart and I was just wondering if a test pipe makes a big difference in performance and can the fuzz tell that you don't have a cat? Any feedback is appreciated

Hi Eddie...

ummm whats "the fuzz"? If thats code for computer then yes it can tell... you can do other mods and still keep your car smog legal. Use the search function.

The fuzz refers to the police, and yes if they aren't idiots they will be able to tell with inspection

So the only way they can tell is if I get pulled over?

just get a HFC with an O2 sensor spacer.

The only reason I'm asking is because tomorrow I'm getting dyno tuned and I was just wondering if getting a hfc or a test pipe would be worth it?

I had the AMS HFC and CB and never had it tuned but if your that worried about the regulations than I would stick with a HFC.

Yes get a HFC. The stock cat is the largest restriction in the exhaust system, removal will greatly increase performance, both by quicker spool and a pronounced increase in top end power (5K+ rpm).

Do you also get a CEL with your aftermarket HFC?

Even if you get the HFC, the CEL will come on after a few miles. That is why I highly suggest to anyone that is getting the HFC or any Cat Delete to buy an O2 sensor spacer. If you do install these two parts before you take a drive, no CEL should come on.

That is non sense I have the complete UR exhaust from turbo back and have had it installed almost 2 years now and the only time it ever came on was once when I did not warm up the car and it was -43 C with the windchill.
The code it caused was cat under efficiency threshhold. In other words the catylitic convertor had not warmed up enough to burn off the excess hydrocarbons cause it was so fricking cold.

After the second or third time starting the car after it had warmed up the check engine light just disappeared and have not seen it since.

My advise get the high flow Cat for the performance you want and for the peace of mind concerning the cops you want.

In Kansas we don't have any emissions laws. In that case does it really give you any better gains going straight pipe over a HFC?

depending on which hfc you go with, it can vary how much of a difference the test pipe will make, but it will always yield more power to run a straight through pipe than any kind of catalyst restriction.

That's great straight pip huh! LOL ! You guys must love the smell of raw unburnt gasoline. Because that's one of the cat's main jobs to burn off any unburnt hydro carbons. But hey it's your car. Besides I would hate to get stuck behind you in traffic if that was the case.
