Yes 2 tons will be good for pretty much anything besides a truck or large suv. Its not holding to total car that refers to more less corner weight

The jack is too small. It will work, but not very well. I had one and ended up getting rid of it. I replaced it with one that will raise to 20" and it is a whole lot easier.

 

i personally perfer ramps, once ur dropped ull need better ramps but if your not doing any wheel/ suspension work the ramps work great since it only takes a minute to drive up and they are fairly high

Rhino Ramps work really well and are relatively inexpensive.

 

I would recommend to go for two sets of 3 tons stands; they have a larger base thus they provide a better stability. Here in Canada, it's a 10$ difference between the 2 tons and the 3 tons... I think our safety is worth the extra spending.

As for the jack, this type of small jack usually don't last very long... At Princess Auto in Canada you can get a decent floor jack for about 100$ when in special... It will lift higher, it will be stronger and more stable... Again, safety first... Especially if you have to use it on a surface that is not leveled (slight inclination) than the better floor jack should still allows you to lift of side of the car.

 

I prefer the ramps also...jack have a instability factor I don't like when I'm underneath.

 

You don't get under a car with just the jack supporting it.

Also, ramps don't help if the car doesn't run or you need to remove the wheels.

I have had one for about 4 years and it is very Durable. They also have pretty much eveything else you will need as far as tools go. You should have a store releatively close to you.

 

+1 i have the aluminum version of HF racing jack, paid $59.99 on sale with coupon and its great at lifting my lancer even when lowered on eibach.

my regular craftsman jack no longer fits under my car.

I have both Jacks and ramps.. I know when to use both and thanks for the lesson...anything else today?

 

So what do you guys use to go under your cars? I dont feel comfortable going under with just jack stands, idk why its just me
