Remote Start OEM or Aftermarket?

Im looking to buy a remote start for my car because of the cold winters and having the SST warm. Is it possible to install an aftermarket one with the FAST key or do I need to install the OEM one.

You can instal an aftermarket with no issue. I have a compustar and did not have to give up a key or anything

I was looking at a viper for about 500.00 that used the factory key ... the factory one is a little expensive and the fob is bulky but no issues with it ...

If it can alert you to when the car is at normal temp, and then have the option to where it automatically shuts the car off after, that would be awesome. Just so that if it takes you longer to get to your car for whatever reason, it'll shut off automatically to save fuel but still be warmed up again a few minutes later after you get in.

Right now, I go out about 3-5 minutes before I leave and start the car, leave the FOB in it and lock it manually from the outside with the key. PITA especially if it's really cold out.

This is what I meant so it reads your engine temp because thats what is more important to me. Once your engine is warm you can get hot air in there and your SST will be warmed up nicely

If that system works flawlessly with the FAST key system, I'll buy it for sure.

Even if you get the OEM remote starter you get another delightful addition to your key collection lol

solution?

iDatalink bypass

"With the idatalink i bypass the FAST key for remote start using a Compustar alarm /remote starter. The FAST key needs to be inside vehicle to drive it. The car shuts off when you put in gear without the FAST key in the vehicle."
vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a46kScmxKn0

you still need two key fobs
