Service soon message help

So I'm from NY and we had some snow this weekend, when I pulled my car out of the spot I switched on to my "Snow Mode" and got the Service soon warning followed by losing my ability to switch between Tarmac, Gravel, and Snow in fact it was blank where it usually would say "Snow". I pulled over and turned the car off let it sit for a little and restarted it up and it was fine from that point on.

Today when I was driving home from work I switched to sport mode and it was acting a little funny usually it stays in like 4th or 5th while cruising at around 45-50 mph but today it was sitting in 6th and then if I pushed it it downshifted to 4th went to 5th and then 6th where it would sit and was not downshifting.

I am just curious if anyone knows whats up with my RA and if these 2 things are related basically any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks

I had issues with the AWC Button as well a couple months back (service message). Took it to the dealer and they said the switch got "stuck in the open position" After cycling the button a few times the issue hasn't been back.

the AWC don't know, but as for sport mode, was the car cold? even though it is in sport mode, until the car reaches a certain operating temperature, it shifts as if in normal mode.

take it to a shop and have them check for codes in the AWC/ACD computer. when this happened to me, the ACD pump had to be replaced.

The ACD pumps has a preemptive warning when it sense a change in the viscosity of the fluid. It throws out the warning, usually when driving and the weather instantly drops. I've had this happen a couple times, its in the owners manual. Basically you turn the car off/back on:
1)If the light goes away it is fine (preemptive warning)
2)If the light remains on and has a certain 'type' of blink (need to double check that part) the pump has a problem.
This has happened top me 3 times on the exact same spot of the same freeway (first time was on my way to a track day, and scared the bejesus out of me!). This particular area suddenly drops below the surrounding hills, temp drops about 20* in 50ft, and the car thinks I ran into an ice storm.

I have had the same problems with mine, but only when it is very cold. Once it warms up all is good. Was it very cold when this happened to you?

I had the light come on and stayed on, a while ago (fall 2010) and the dealer replaced my ACD pump. I believe that was around the same time they came out with the cold weather flash for AWC.

I have since been in temps as low as -36C(2 weeks ago) and no issues.

Oh and FYI for anyone that cares the car pulls like a champ at that temp too lol

-21'C here today, and when my wife was driving home on the motorway the car suddenly went into limp home mode, with the SEL light turning on and ASC being disabled. She pulled over, and the idle was erratic, jumping between 500..1500 rpm.

Same thing happened twice last year, dealership didn't find any faults so they did nothing. Any thoughts?

seriously check the fuse box for any corrosion. if thats the face, use electrical cleaner or get the dealership to change the fuse box (which is covered under warranty). It is a huge job to change the electrical box...so lets hope thats not the case.

Great, it just happened again. Now it's on video:

http://youtu.be/omOjGmTIfdY

I changed my relays already last winter, but they did no good. The car always starts well, no problems...this happens after 5..10 mins of driving. Do you really think it could be a corrosion problem? I'm not exactly in a humid or salty environment....

Well my buddy who is a Mitsubishi mechanic texted me saying

"Idle air controller adjusting"
"It's fu(ked"
"The PCM back feeds and supplies a high current through the negative changing it from the ac to dc causes idle surges" (i have no idea wtf that means)

then i asked him "is it the controller thats ****ed or the car". then he says again, "it's ****ed"

So, i hope that helps.
