Hi all. i wanna see if anyone has done a full trans and diff oil change service and whats the prices were.
I have 30k on the car and want to to do a service before i mod the car. if you have any further servixing ideas to add before mods that would be great. cheers.

I've tried to obtain a quote for a well known Sydney dealer however they are persistent in saying for me to go with the regular service and won't actually quote me for the SST and Diffs.
Far out I can't believe how ignorant these people are and I can tell you that both Mitsubishi places I've been to have the exact same attitude.

Finally got a quote back although not exact.
A fixed price 30k service ($240) Plus SST flush and new Oil and Filter and the transfer case and diffs oil changed = between 700-800 give or take.
I would have thought that is somewhat cheap considering the oil costs almost $500 for 8L for the Diaqueen based on what I've researched.
I'm not complaining about the price but i want to ensure that I'm getting everything listed.

So effectively the service margin is $800-$650 and that was quoted with the diff and transfer case oil change as well (I believe the front diff shares the sst fluid and the rear has it's own?)

If I was mechanically inclined I would and if i felt confident a normal mechanic could do this I would go to them.
Changing the sst oil and diff & Transfer case oil is that a hard/unique job for a everyday mechanic, the way it's been put to me is they connect to a computer for the diffs to assist with changing the oil's.

The sst oil change is easy. 3 drain bolts, measure how much comes out, set old oil and measurement aside, put bolts back in, pour in new fluid (same amount that came out), start the car and go through the gears, all done. The filter change goes somewhere in there.
As for the diff and transfer case, I wouldn't do that myself either. But doing just the sst yourself can save you some money to put toward mods :P

Am i correct in saying you have to flush it once then put another set into it? Also when you say all the gears, do you just go for a gentle drive down the road and change through the gears manually?

You're not over the top at all. This is a very expensive piece of metal, so do as much research as you can. There is a how-to thread on how to do it. I would read over that, because I'm going off of memory on that thread.
Don't do it based off of this post. Read the how-to and read through the comments

Good idea. And good luck. If you do have it done by the dealer, MAKE SURE they replace the filter. A LOT of dealers will say you don't need to, but the filter after the first fluid change is disgusting.

According to the factory manual, changing the transfer case and rear diff oil is no different to other AWD. A competent mechanic or owner with the right equipment can do this .
The ACD fluid is the one requiring the MUT. However, others have said regular change is not required.
An average mechanic or owner with the right equipment can change the SST fluid and filter, IF AND ONLY IF he is willing to follow the factory procedure, including the use of correct fluid.
The mechanic I know (with 30 yrs experience) don't tend to use torque wrench. He just go by experience. I suspect this is widespread. This might be problematic if they are not careful with the plastic SST filter and bracket.
GEAR OIL REPLACEMENT
1.Remove the filler plug.
2.Remove the drain plug and drain oil.
3.Tighten the drain plug to the specified torque (Refer to P.27B-29).
4.Add the oil until the level comes to the lower portion of the filler plug hole.
Specified gear oil: MITSUBISHI Genuine DIA QUEEN LSD gear oil
Amount to use: Approx. 0.55 dm3(0.58 quart)
5.Tighten the filler plug to the specified torque (Refer to P.27B-29).
For transfer oil
1.Remove the engine room under cover front B assembly. (Refer to GROUP 51, Under Cover P.51-20.)
2.Remove the drain plug and gasket to drain the oil.
3.Install the drain plug and new gasket, then tighten them to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 32 ± 2 N⋅m (24 ± 1 ft-lb)
4.Remove the filler plug and gasket, then fill the oil up to the lower edge of the filler plug hole.
Brand name: DiaQueen LSD gear oil
Quantity: 0.8 dm3 (0.85 quarts)
5.Install the filler plug and new gasket, then tighten them to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 32 ± 2 N⋅m (24 ± 1 ft-lb)
