New way to carjack proof ur car.
New way to carjack proof ur car.
I remember a while ago complaining that the dealer was messing with my knob whenever I took the car in for service and it made it very hard to pull the collar back up to shift.
I discovered it was cause someone had taken it off and put it back on cross-threaded, then screwed it down too tight so the collar wasn't able to come up.
Well, I've heard quite a few stories about stick shift cars foiling car jackers cause they couldn't drive stick. I was talking to someone on Jalopnik and I got the idea that if I put my shift knob back on cross-threaded but backed out about half a turn, it would still work. But if I ever get car jacked, I'd just put it in park, give the knob a full clockwise twist, and walk away.
Or not get car jacked. Also a good idea.
Probably shouldn't be announcing this to the world either. Would suck to get car jacked by a forum member...
