Question about key fob

Okay, so my stupid dealer only gave me one key fob(I bought used) and they're being really stupid about it. I was wondering how much it would be to get a new one, (if even possible?) Also, what do you guys keep yours on, because that thing is little as hell and hard to keep track of lol

Aargh, this brings back not-so-happy !$%$!#%@#$%@! memories!

I ended up having to BUY a second key fob. For the car I'd just bought off them.

Dealer charged me full list price for it - over $400 in Aus! I obviously have the word IDIOT tattooed on my forehead.

But... since then I've taken my RA to a (further away) dealer for all servicing. And for buying pricey SST fluid. So that "incident" lost them all my future money for the rest of time!

My advice: Keep hammering away at them. Don't yield. You'll feel like an asshat if you give in and buy it with your own coin. Trust me, I know.

And yes, I now carry a barely repressed rage inside me about key fobs. HULK UNLOCK! REMOTELY!

I'm in the same exact situation.
I just bought my 2010 Evo X SE from a Benz dealership and got 1 key.
I called San Rafael Mitsubishi and they quoted me $132.50 for a key (with chip) and programming costs $65.

I found some FOB keys on eBay for around $70, so you can save $70.

I have the middle-of-the-road key with the buttons in the key head (un/lock, panic and trunk)...

I'm hoping that the dealer will be able to get in touch with the old owner so I can get the other key and the SE keychain!

you should have gotten 2 when you bought your car... You should still have the physical key part in the FOB, that ought to allow you to get to a dealer to get a new fob and have it paired up with the car...

Well, I guess worse comes to worst, you may need to get a tow to the nearest dealer to get a new pair of FOBs mated with your car.

I keep my key on a cheap, nothing-special key ring and just leave it in my pocket. The only time I take it out is when I get home (or on the occasion where I have to hand the key to someone else) and at home there is a specific spot where I put keys. By sticking to that system, I have never lost track of the key.

Did you try putting whatever's left of the key fob right next to the ignition when u turn the physical key?

The physical key will turn it but it still needs a coded signal from the key fob's RFID. It will ping the RFID in the keyfob (even if there's no power) and get a weak signal in return. It's so weak that it has to be right next to the ignition to receive it.

Unless the actual chip is damaged...
