Used 2011 Lancer Ralliart
Used 2011 Lancer Ralliart
Hello everyone I have been looking for a new Ralliart for a long time and I'm down to the last two options. Between a used 2011 and a 2012.
Here are details about the two. I was able to find a new one that I will be shipped from Texas. It is a brand new 2012, White, with the chrome package, touring package with navigation system for a total of 33,500 including shipping, taxes, dealer fees and tags+title.
The 2011 is also White comes with the touring package + navigation. The mileage on this car is 4,500 miles (pretty new). For 27,000 total including taxes dealer fees and tags+title (probably still negotiable I just found this one). Still under Mitsubishi warranty.
The difference is 6,500 which feels like a lot but I'm scared something could go wrong with the used vehicle especially since the transmission on these cars is so delicate. What do you guys think?

Still under Mitsubishi warranty. I would also look at used. 4,500 miles is really nothing and Im not a fan of chrome so paying for a chrome package imo is dumb. I bought my 2010 brand new with the Recaro package for just under $30,000 so $33,500 is high imo.

Huntington, south coast and there is one other in that group. All have great low prices TONS of cars to choose from and your warranty actually means a damn at those dealerships. So a good place to get a mitsu.
Your warranty is only as good as the mitsu dealership near you. Mitsu corp WILL NOT help you if you have a bad dealership that denies warranty work in hopes of having you pay for repair out of pocket (they get more money this way). The offical process for a complaint to mitsu corp is that they call the dealership you are having an issue with...and then say the dealership was right. They do not bother to have a second look at your car or hell even bother to talk with you. So keep in mind that the dealership is your one and ONLY source of help...so if your getting used, you better damn well be sure you have a good dealership near you.
If you can get the new car insterest rate, then you have some savings...if you can not however, that diffrence between the new and used will get eaten away quite quickly with the interest rate difference if your financing. This assumes you can get the low 0% or .9% interest rates on new mitsu of course.

If you're going to be buying a used vehicle, make sure the SST is in good order and make sure your stock engine is in the car. I bought my RA from Brampton Mitsubishi and just found out this week that the motor in my car is USED and doesn't match. Also, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MAINTENANCE RECORDS or your warranty IS NULL. VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!

Wow Bro whats the story on this? How did you find out it was Non numbers matching?
Also, did they say it had to be dealer maintencance records specifically or just maint records in general?

It's funny that you think the warranty is worth anything to begin with :P.
What really matters is if you have a good dealership near you or not...because they are your ONLY help. Mitsu corp policy is...unhelpful.
A good low mileage car without 'mods' (especially a non-recirc BOV, CAI, and exhaust with no tune =fail) then buy it... You save a lot of money!
If over 60K miles (per the manual!) then ask if the tranny has been serviced (and if not - negotiate!).
It does not have to be a 'new' car to be dependable.

If the tranny hasn't been serviced for 60k, I wouldn't negotiate, I would walk away lol. That TC-SST is trouble.
$6500, I would get em to pull the data on the car to see if it's been red lined, for how long etc (I believe that data's hidden in the air conditioning temperature log somewhere in the ECU). Then spend like 2 grand on a 10yr/100k mi extended warranty. I got mine for like, 1200 from Zurich and they were pretty cool to deal with when I had a brake problem.
Because $4500 savings can buy a lot of hookers and blow.

4,500 is a very low mileage. I bought 09 Lancer ralliart more than a year ago, I didn't have enough money to purchase a new one so I also wanted to get a used mitshubushi. But eventially I bought salvage Lancer from auction for mitsubishi salvage autos and had the same worries (that something could go wrong with the used vehicle, let alone salvage one) Of course I had to do some repairs but thankfully I never had any problems with it. So I think you have nothing to worry about.
