ASC on/off

I usually drive with my ASC off when the weather is good(dry pavement), but my question is whether or not you guys feel that it would be more difficult to avoid an accident with the ASC off if I need to take evasive action while on the interstate going at highway speeds. Thoughts?

I've only taken it off when having fun in the snow filled parking lot.

I keep mine off all the time unless its snowing or raining really hard. I find that my gas mileage is higher with it off also. This also helps your brake pads last longer. Also if you have to make a quick move at highway speeds keeping your foot on the gas will help. (more traction)Kinda hard to explain here but go to racing school.

Now the real question about that video is if the Ralliart has the same ASC programming as the Evo does...?

Maybe similar ASC possibly, but Ralliart doesn't have AYC so the results will vary. Actually now that I notice it, if I press the ASC button once, it does nothing. So maybe we're missing that intermediate "ASC kinda off" mode?

Yeah, cause I've turned ASC off and hammered the car around a U-Turn and the rear end kicks out like no other.

Almost as gloriously easy as the Evo 8/9

Another helpful link.

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/en/...brary/asc.html

If you drive aggressively in rain, snow, or touge the difference should be substancial. ASC prevents the car from going sideways. If you attempt in snow, you will feel ABS go crazy and will automatically apply the brakes to the appropriate wheels and stop you before you slide. Turn it off and you're more free to drift.

Yes that's right, the Ralliart just has "ASC ON" and "ASC OFF-OFF"(full OFF) modes. We don't have the intermediate "one push" "ASC OFF"(partial OFF) mode like the Evo does.

When I first got my ralliart i I was at a red light pulling right out of my neighborhood. I had asc ON like it is set to by default. When it turned green I stomped it while turning right. ( dumb I know) I had never driven a car like this before, and as soon as the turbo spooled up my rear tires immediately lost traction, the car rear end starting to swing out, but before I knew it asc kicked in and immediately stopped my car in its tracks, and most importantly stopped me from doing a 360. I was amazed at how well all the different systems worked together and corrected my car. Kind of hard to explain but it felt like I hit a brick wall in the direction my rear end was going. Props to mitsu for the asc system inthe car, mine doesn't get turned off unless I'm having fun on the snow.
