Talking I went SIDEWAYS today - Who Else??

It was my first time, the snow/ slush provides a good surface for learning.
TC ON, AWC-Setting (Tarmac), Summer Tires...I just got excited and pushed the throttle, it happens from time to time.

I feel like I needed to share this, it is like being a little kid again! All of my stress just dissolved away.

I definitely need more practice...

Went around a U turn and gunned it. Got sideways and stayed that way for about 150 yards before people started honking at me..

I got a little bit trying to get my car out of my parking lot today. I probably would've enjoyed it more if I wasn't in a hurry to get to work and wasn't getting frustrated by the fact that there was enough snow that the car was starting to get stuck.

For what it's worth though, the bit of slide I got on the turn to the driveway exit was pretty fun. I think I cracked a smile there. The summer tires still need to go though--I'll be working on that in the near future.

Tarmac sends the majority of power to the rear, gravel is 50-50, and snow sends more power to the front, so if drifting is the goal then you want to be in tarmac.

Agreed this whole thing needs to stop...The system is ALWAYS 50/50. The tarmac, gravel, snow settings adjust the difference in WHEEL speed aloud between the front and rear wheels.

Think about it this way if your in the snow and going around a corner in tarmac the rear wheels will be able to spin at a faster rate(more slip in the transfer case clutch pack) then the fronts which will make the cars rear end come out. Snow mode decreases that hence keeping the car in control. There is none of this subaru changing power to the front or rear crapola.. When you step on the gas no matter what setting or what conditions are outside its 50 to the front 50 to the rear.

It's simple...

1. If it's snowing, but you use TARMAC, it's 20:80
2. If it's tarmaccing, but you use SNOW, it's 70:30
3. If it's raining and you use GRAVEL, it's 17:00 and time to knock off and have a beer.
4. If a thread spins off into subjects like torque split, synthetic oils or Ralliart camshafts, there's 99:1 odds against the thread ever making it back on topic safely!
