I really do think that some people believe the COBB AP to be capable of witchcraft or something. It is a major hassle for a very small benefit. If you could run EcuFlash on your cellphone, which I bet some people can, it would be the exact same thing. Hell, the Tactrix cable all on its own is a pretty cool little thing. If you have an LC-1, you can log pretty much everything with just the dongle and nothing else. That is worth the price of admission all on its own.
Ouch.. Honestly, this RA has some modifications done to it and had no boost gauge or any type of gauges on the interior.. So I decided to go ahead with the COBB AP instead of using ECUFlash (which I may use in the future) to provide the gauges I wanted to see
I figured one boost gauge would be ~$200 so I wasn't out much spending the extra to get the AP?
Maybe I'm wrong though?

I think the point he was trying to make is that they don't "need" it. Any knowledgeable tuner can use ECUFlash or other opensource software and achieve the same or similar results without having an AP
Is there any evidence of the actually tuning it beond the basic tune that comes with the AP? If not then they charged you to plug the AP in, selecting the tune that comes with the AP, and turning on and off your car.
Better, even. As more things are defined in EcuFlash with various ROMs, you get the benefit of having everything more dialed in, assuming that your tuner knows what he or she is doing.
Just to get it out of the way - I think that Cobb's support for the Ralliart is ***. They've told me that that they will finally release proper maps by the end of the year, but I kind of doubt that. So far we just have outdated support for 2009 and 2010 and beta 2011 and 2012 with mixed results.
That said, a lot of tuners do use the AccessPort and I much prefer its method for switching and managing maps with a dedicated device over the hassle of using EcuFlash with a laptop/whatever. The boost gauge and other logging tools are very handy as well. The only problem is the lack of proper updates. Evo X guys finally got theirs, but we're still waiting, supposedly because Cobb can't get vehicles to play with.
