Need help

I've asked before, but I would appreciate any insight you guys have on these mods.. I just bought this car and from what I can physically see, the list of mods are in my signature..

I would like to know if you guys see anything I'm missing, and how do I know if that is the stock turbo, or an Evo X turbo, or even an aftermarket one?

Turbo Housing

Exhaust Mani

Small Battery Kit

Fujita Ram Intake

That definatly looks like an evo x twinscroll downpipe mouth, and the need of a small battery kit to fit that SRI says to me it is an evo x intake.

Not to mention anyone who would put a tubular manifold on a little stock td04 is pretty silly haha

also missing heat shields from the turbo area... of course that may be because they don't fit over the aftermarket manifold...

That is an Evolution X turbo. It appears to have the stock O2 housing still on there.

I don't think that manifold was ceramic coated. It looks like they were painted with high temp paint because of the pealing that's going on.

Yea I'm just going by what the dealership told me.. Which I realize is 90% BS..

I just ordered an AP and don't know what to do with the install.. So I'm trying to figure out what all is exactly going on under the hood..

I don't really wanna flash the ECU with a stage0/1/2 COBB flash, because when I go to install the AP it says "Previous tune programming detected".. And it runs now fine(i think?)

I really just wanted to use the AP to monitor everything and not mess with the current tune (assuming it's good)

U can use the AP without loading the stages. All it does at time u plug it in is read the ecu and store ur car info. But u don't have to load any stages unless u want to.

When I go to install it, it is asking me to click on one of the predefined maps? I was on the phone with COBB and they provided next to zero help..

They told me not to even install the AP at this point

I've heard that COBB isn't very supportive. Try and find a good tuner in your area and have them tune your car. What exactly did the dealer tell you? Are they going to cover all the aftermarket parts under warranty?

On a side note I would get a different intake if I were you since with that set up you'll be sucking up a lot of hot air.

+1 on local tuner, ask if they ever tuned the SST before.

Did you buy the car from a Mitsubishi dealership and does it come with a warranty? I doubt they will cover the mods, but if you can I would get it in writing that they will cover the mods.

No I didn't buy it from a Mitsubishi dealer, and the dealer said it was 50/50 warranty for 30 days based on the modifications..

As far as I can tell, the car runs smooth and fast.. Nothing out of the ordinary with the SST.. I'm just trying to have some piece of mind equipment installed to monitor the health of the engine (AFR, Boost, MAF, etc.)

My question now is, if I installed the AP with the stage 0 tune (stock) and ran some logs, would the car even be driveable? I am travelling for work at the moment and have no way to get to work if I messed up the ECU..

And COBB kept telling me that it MAY or MAY NOT save the ECU tune that it currently has installed on it.. So if I installed the AP, I could be hosed if it didn't end up right..

The nearest tuner that was recommended was over 8 hours away so that's not happening

Who recommend that tuner? I would try to search for a another tuner. If COBB themselves can't give you a straight answer that's when you know you should walk away. Honestly if the car is running strong leave it be till you go on vacation or have actually time to get it properly checked out. In the mean time get a AFR and Boost gauge. I'm running AEM gauges, cheap, but get the job done. Also maybe the dealership could help you track down previous owner and get you more insight?
