Vin number trouble
Vin number trouble
Hello! Im new
and have some questions sadly :C...
So, my problem is this:
I have bought a Ralliart Recently, everything seems to be fine, but my vin is like this: "JA3AV66V59U03400X" , and under the mat in passengers seat, the number is "CY4A9U03400X", police says it has to be the same, but somewhere i dont remember right now, i read that in JAPAN they dont use the VIN with 17 characters, they use only between 9 and 12 characters, so is it neccesary to be the exact same number? You have the same numbers in both places? Is there any other place in the chassis where i could find the VIN? (Not only stickers on doors)
Thanks for your time

The "identification" portion of both values you referenced match. You could say the identification values do match and that they're comparing the VIN to the Chassis code.
Using JA3AV66V59U03400X to break down your VIN:
Good luck!
Edit; randomly thought about it and this is a little strange. They're comparing the VIN to the chassis identification. Apparently I'm great at overthinking. Check one of the other locations for more VIN verification...lol.
Using JA3AV66V59U03400X to break down your VIN:
WMI (World manufacturer identifier): J = Japan, A3 = Mitsubishi Motors
VDS (Vehicle Descriptor Section): AV66V5 = Lancer Ralliart
VIS (Vehicle Identification Section): 9U03400X = Unique Identifier for your 2009 Lancer
Now the VIS portion of your VIN matches to the chassis identification, "CY4A9U03400X"VDS (Vehicle Descriptor Section): AV66V5 = Lancer Ralliart
VIS (Vehicle Identification Section): 9U03400X = Unique Identifier for your 2009 Lancer
Chassis: CY4A
Vehicle Identification: 9U03400X
Other places that would have the VIN displayed are most likely the engine block, the inside of the driver door jamb, or firewall.Vehicle Identification: 9U03400X
Good luck!
