Is it worth it??
It's been only 11 months since I bought my 09 GTS, and I really do love it a lot. However, the extra items in the ralliart are tempting me, namely turbo, sst, awd. I'd like to know from those of you that upgraded from another 08/09 Lancer, was it worth it??
I went to a dealership yesterday and walked around checking out the ralliarts on the outside. Unfortunately, none of them have all that I want (nav & sound). So, I want to drive one. I have yet to see a sales guy. So, I walk inside... there's 2, count em, TWO sales guys inside, and both busy. Absolutely nobody else. I could easily count 4 other people that were waiting. I have never had that happen to me before. wtf? Anyway, just curious what you guys think. |
I can't really comment on the ralliart...but with the salesmen, that's a common thing these days. Times are rough and dealerships have to let some sales guys go. My buddy works at an import dealership(Honda, mitsu, and nissan) and only sold 3 cars in 2 1/2 months. So not having slot of salesmen around will be a common thing.

Ralliart think of it this way.... u can mod the heck out of a GTS to get it to a Ralliartish type of car or u can start with a ralliart and go farther

Listen, I've been driving an 08 ES-Sport for a year now, and it's the same thing as a09 GTS except for the extra tuned suspension and the 15 more horses.
A Ralliart on the other hand, is a completely different beast. I mean out of this world (compared to a GTS) machine. I just got mine yesterday (will post pics soon); so listen to what I'm saying. My advice for you my friend = Freaking get it. |
...i traded in my lightly modified 08 gts on the RA.
i was never a fan of FWD cars , but i loved the 08 gts anyway......... .........until i drove the 09RA. the "feel" AWD is incredible. |
here is my opinion,
DONT GET THE RALLIART either trade in your current car for a evo X or get yourself a evo 8 or evo 9. Your never gonna be able to upgrade your ralliart like any evo and by what you are saying you like the ralliart because of the awd and sst. now evo x wont have the sst unless you get a MR packadge which is very expensive but really, if your gonna switch cars again you know that after you get the ralliart your gonna want to move up to the evo. so save your self time and your hard earned MONEY and get a evo. and seeing as how the economy is horrible right now most dealers will be happy to sell you a 08 evo at invoice just to get it off their lot. |

The Nav is an Option. There was a RG Ralliart yesterday at the dealer with NAV, Recaro & HID. Too expensive. The NAvi s 1,999 dealer price. You can get it online for 950. |

Heres the way it goes --if you drive at 10/10ths or (think you do) get the evo GSR. Probably not the greatest DD but a fast fun to drive car for a couple of grand more than the RA. if you drive in the real world and don't give a whit about that last 10th of performance and like creature comforts get the RA. It as well is a fast fun to drive car, just not as fast or fun to drive as the evo. It happens to cost a little less than a GSR and a lot less than a MR. |

NAV has always been a factory option, although it can be installed afterwards

My advice on buying a car would be to buy something and then live with it for at least three or four years... leaving a lot more money in your pockets to spend on mods, or on your next car. Just common sense. There will always be something newer and shinier, so just be creative with what you've got, and your life will be a lot more enjoyable. |
