Manual transmisson

When do we have a ralliart with manual transmission?

jkennedy293 May 2, 2010 03:16 PM

Probably never. I can't see Mitsubishi adding a manual tranny to the mix. They need the volume of Ralliart, Evo MR, and the ASX(probably) to acheive economies of scale for the SST.

The SST was Mitsubishi's biggest mistake for the Ralliart/Evo.

If mitsu made a manual ralliart, what would be the incentive to buy an Evo?

That's what I'm saying.. I got points for discussing about that but yeah I thought the whole reason why mitsu made the ralliart only sst is cuz if it had a manual, on a straight line a lot of ralliarts would whoop evos. No offense to evo x and I love the evo x lol

I just don't see myself getting an evo x if the ralliart was available in a manual, since I don't track my car..

Listen, if it wasn't the transmission, it would be something else. There is always a bottleneck. It isn't like the transmission is the only difference between the Ralliart and the Evolution X, either. There are many, many things that make the Evolution superior to the Ralliart. Racing in a straight line is all well and good, but that isn't what these cars were designed to do. Try to keep up with an EVO around a track and tell me that a manual transmission would make all the difference.

When your post makes sense.

That is EXACTLY what the Ralliart was designed for. Hell, they even replaced the two top gears in the SST just for us so that we could get better mileage on the Highway.

Evo10HKS May 2, 2010 08:13 PM

how about never. idk why people keep thinking mitsu will put a standard in there.

and to whoever said putting the SST in the evo and RA are highly uneducated. the MR sells very well, just look in the evo X section theres MANY MR owners. and if i had a choice to get an evo id get an MR also. not everyone has to have a standard. as long as some people are able to control their gears like a standard, most will be fine.

Because it seems like it would be easy to pull off.

I think that people are missing the point of this car, though.

Yeah I got the point and purchased the car. No complaints for me

The TC-SST I believe is a reason lots of people buy the RA. The WRX, MS3, Cobalt SS(turbo version) and Civic Si don't offer anything other then a manual transmission. I bought the RA for lots of other reasons but one of the main ones was that it comes in an auto which the fiancee preferred I get. If the RA was a 5 spd how many people would have went with the WRX, MS3 etc? I say quite a few. Just my $0.02

People are discussing the manual transmission as an optional item. It can't hurt sales. It can only help, and the point that has been made is that, in light of Mitsubishi's struggling sales figures at present, doesn't it make sense to adopt the Burger King motto and let people have it their way?

To be absolutely honest, I have not been impressed with what this company does with transmissions on a budget. From what I understand, the only difference between the 5-speed manual from the 3G Eclipse and the 6-speed manual from the 4G is a smaller, more-compact gear (they essentially took 5th gear and made it into two weaker gears or something along those retarded lines). I am fairly certain that both transmissions are able to bolt up to a standard 6g72 motor (because I am pretty sure that the 5-speed from the 3G bolts up to the 6g75 motor from the 4G Eclipse). I read that A LONG time ago on another forum, but I can try and source that information if requested. Bottom line, if you are unimpressed with what Mitsubishi can do with a TC-SST transmission (that should have come directly out of an MR), buckle your ****ing seat-belts for a new manual option (which definitely won't come out of the GSR). Fuel economy, here we come!
