Should I Spring?
Should I Spring?
Just got back from the dealership, where I had asked about any alignment issues with dropped cars. I was told that if my car was set up any lower than the stock setting, factory alignment standards can no longer be achieved resulting in premautre inner tire wear and other handling issues. I have had aligment nightmares in the past with other cars, and was wondering if those of you who have dropped their RA have had any of these issues, and where did you get your car aligment done. I was planning on either Eibach or RRM springs if there are no known issues with lowering.
you can get an alignment AFTER you lower the car.
if you go with a conservative drop , you will be able to get decent specs.
i have eibach pro springs.
front toe is at 0.
camber is at just under 1 at all four corners.

rrm springs. aligned after a month or so at just tires by a friend. 0* toe front and rear, -2* camber front by my choice with ingalls bolts, -1.5* camber rear basically non-adjustable without major upgrade
no abnormal or excessive wear............
.....and if you read my specs....
....... you would see that they are very close to "neutral"
so i should not get excessive wear.
it IS very important to pay attention to tire pressure.

I do and I'm at stock ride height. No alignment or adjustments were made since I bought the car at 25 miles on the clock. My stock tires wore out at 12,000 miles. The inner-front tires were completely bald. The rears still had 50% tread life on them. A buddy of mine locally, with a Evo MR had the exact same thing happen.

yeah, from factory, the alignment is garbage and geared towards early tire wear. even with my fairly aggressive alignment, keeping the tires properly inflated and rotating regularly every oil change, though, i havent noticed any more wear than i've seen come through the shop on completely stock cars, if not less than usual.
