Lowering springs

I dont know much about lowering my car but my friends say that if i just get lowering springs that my struts will go bad? so i need coilovers which are 1000 dollars? if this is not true then i wanna know what i could order so my car gets low and doesn't wreck anything thanks!

You dont NEED coils. Springs will cause the struts to wear faster but its not something thats going to happen the day you put them on the car. Ive had springs on cars in the past where the stock struts lasted 3+ years.

you dont need coil overs but theres no problem wanting coils lol
the struts will eventually go bad when you change your springs because of the different spring rates with aftermarket springs
I've seen the stock struts last different amounts of time from people on various forums but it also depends on how low the springs drop the car and also probably how bad the roads are you drive on
