Rotor Issue
Rotor Issue
A couple months ago, I noticed that my car was shaking too much on the highway (about 70-75 mph), so I took it into the shop to get it checked out. They told me that the front and rear brakes needed to get replaced because the rotors were warped/pitted. I came on this forum looking for brake options that would give me better performance. In one of the threads, someone posted they had used rotors from DRT, with Red Stuff brake pads from EBC with a couple others using that build and loving it as well.
I ordered cross drilled/slotted rotors from DRT and the Red Stuff pads from the Place for Brakes, and installed them myself with help from a good friend of mine. Initially, it seemed that the shaking had gone away. A couple of days later I had the dealer mount and balance new tires and it was not much longer after that, I had noticed that the shaking had returned.
Yesterday, I finally brought back my car to the dealership to complain about the shaking again, and they claimed that the rotors are warped. They also claimed that the Ralliart isn't designed to have slotted rotors, only factory rotors. Sounds like a line of BS to me. I installed the rotors/pads in the beginning of September, they shouldn't be warped already, unless something else in the car is causing it, in my opinion (then again I'm not a big gearhead)
Anyone else have this happen to them? Do you think I'm right in being skeptical of what the dealer is saying to me?

If you do a lot of hard stopping (track, mountain runs, showing off), that can cause your rotors to warp. Under normal conditions (driving to work, running errands, etc) they should not warp.
The dealership is BSing you regarding the slotted rotors. Any car can use slotted rotors as long as they are designed for that car.
I would recommend checking your alignment. That is one of the most common causes of shaking.
