How to flush brake fluid?

I've never done this on any car before, but will be replacing pads and rotors this weekend. Anyone have any guides or tips for me?

Get a MityVac so you don't need a second person to pump the brake pedal.

The most important thing is to be thorough. A MityVac or bleeder kit from AutoZone is not a bad idea. The key is to make sure that fluid, and fluid alone, is coming out of the caliper before re-tightening the bleeder screw and topping off the system. You should be fine. It is a relatively easy thing to do.

Ok. I was thinking of switching to ATE Super Blue Fluid. Would I just bleed and bleed until I see blue, or is there a different process for completely flushing the system?

Bleed and bleed until you see blue. Be warned, ATE Super Blue seems to stain the lines permanently. Once you've used it, it's really hard to get non-blue fluid again short of going through liters of fluid.

Good to know. Maybe I'll explore some other fluids. Any suggestions?

I've also heard that alternating the 2 different colored ATE's is an easy way to tell when everything is gone. And work from the farthest line forward (RP, RD, FP, FD IIRC)

Remember to start bleeding at the farthest point from the master cylinder and work your way forward oing to the next closest wheel each time.

There is nothing like a positive pressure device to smooth things over.
