Really hot wheel from braking??
Really hot wheel from braking??
Hey guys,
I just wanted to check how your cars go after a spirited drive.
I've got a 4 pot brembo kit on mine and trying to confirm things are working as normal.
My issue is after coming down a large hill with a fair amount of braking(10 minutes in total)the face of my left wheel is extremely hot to the touch vs the right wheel which is still warm but I could hold my hand of it.
I've had a few issues with the kit with oversized pads and such but now I've got a perfectly fitted set of pads. What I wanted to know is would the SST positioning throw off enough heat to cause the left wheel to heat up combined with braking to the point that it's practically burning to the touch? Does anyone else have these issues with the stock braking or aftermaket upgrade?
I didn't really notice it until I had the kit on but after working with the vendor everything now seems to fit nicely I just don't want to overheat my brake and have failure if this type of occurrence is not normal.
Thankyou

Whoa! YES, you have a problem! That brake is dragging and will soon warp the rotor, boil the brake fluid and reduce the life of the seals in the caliper!
Jack the car (safely with jack stands) and spin both wheels... If that rotor is much harder tospin, then remove the caliper and spin again. Better? Then the issue is the caliper releasing. It may be a bad caliper. Inspect thoroughly and replace if you can't figure out *why* it is dragging. Flush the fluid thoroughly. Check the rotor for warping and discoloration.

I would not 'rule it out' yet.
SOMETHING is dragging the brake. It is not impossible to have a binding caliper from the factory. Troubleshooting should reveal the culprit...
