lol ya just turn it no tools or labor required. I'm glad I tried this on my own, the dealer was going to charge me 60 bucks to do it when I asked if they could put it in when I bought it from them.

Actually, Mitsubishi's Ralliart shift knob is a really nice piece of solid aluminum (maybe too nice -- it gets really cold in winter). I agree that dealers shouldn't be charging for installation, unless you bought your car from a different dealer, I guess -- the price is high enough to figure in installation (the dealer must be walking away with at least half the cost -- it's an accessory, and less than 100% markup would be pretty pitiful for list price on a dealer-installed accessory).

I love the knob and parking break replacements. I have zero regrets spending the money on it.

Only problem, it burns the S out of your hand if you live in florida. I never use the shifter on the way home from work because the thing feels like its 100 degrees.

Thought I would add my two cents, even though it will be redundant.

Yeah the shifter knob screws off plain and easy. Just give it some muscle. The plastic e-brake cover is supposed to be heated with a hair dryer so it expands, then pull it off, but you can just pull that sucker off. Explaining why you are bringing a hair dryer into your car may not be worth it.

With the e-brake part, there is a small set screw on the bottom, where your fingers would wrap around. This screw is tightened via an allen wrench so it stays in place.

Yeah both the knob and e-brake are pricey but they are extremely well made; not cheap looking or feeling.

I have no regrets for that purchase and I am very pleased with how they look every time I get in.

They do tend to get colder and hotter but that is kinda cool. I pretend its my RA saying, "DO IT!! Shift and I will freeze/burn your hand! The pain is worth the shift!". Then I shift.. and a tear rolls down my eye before I WOT and boost.
