Getting the same burning smell again. Took a long drive (2 and half hours) out to the mountains with snow tires and you could really smell it from the back of the car. Then driving into work (15 min) this morning smelled it again. Was using manual shifting driving in this morning, but used auto driving out to the mountains and that was about 5 days ago.

I to have noticed a couple weeks after the reflash the burned rubber smell was coming from the rear of the car, by the exhaust, I have new snowtires too, but I originally thought it was the smell of the new tires being worn by my spirited driving.

So I've noticed this burning smell twice now. I do NOT have the AWC reflash. I do have snow tires.

Both times I smelled it, I had been braking hard enough for the ABS to kick in (there's snow on the ground so it didn't take a whole lot).

I've had the AWC flash for 1 and half months now. 2 snowstorms already and haven't had the smell until just recently.

I highly doubt that it's the GST flash, because I've read all through these Ralliart forums and have never heard of anyone else having that kind of problem with the GST flash(I have the GST flash myself too). The common thread with just about everyone who has had a problem with the burning smell is that they all have done something to modify the stock exhaust system. If you were going to change something, I would recommend going back to the stock exhaust and see if that fixes the problem, which I bet it will. I put a rear-axel back exhaust system on my car, but that's basically just a different muffler and tailpipe. It seems like everyone who is having the burning smell problem has done either a cat-back system or a full turbo-back system on their cars.

I talked to the dealer again and they said to bring it up on a week day so they can get the Mits tech line on the phone and run some tests and diagnostics. Only problem is I work Mon-Fri and they are an hour away so can't make it up there while they are open. Can't really miss work for a car appt with the economy like this, cause I really like having a job... so I can pay for my RA of course

The only mod I have on my car is the HKS drop-in. My whole exhaust system is completely stock and I still get this damn smell every single day.

Just started getting the smell this past week. Still on stock basemap, only mod I have is an HKS Drop-In. My fuel rail/AWC flash were done over 4k miles ago. Don't know if they're really related.

Meh.

Yeah it seems to be the car itself and not any of the mods. I have a 2010 and I get it as well!

I've done all the recalls/reflash and have a catback but I've never noticed any burning plastic/rubber smell from the car. Do you guys actually smell it in cabin?

I noticed today that it starts to smell, in cabin, when I'm pushing it hard in sport mode. Not 100%, but I'm somewhat sure that normal mode doesn't smell for me. Anyone else?

I smelled this again last night. Of course it was after doing a few flat spins in a parking lot without much snow/ice covering the tarmac.

I only smell it occasionally when I get out of the car; do not think I've had it in the cabin thankfully!
