It's not bad at all. Although automatic in normal and sport modes are better than the human.
If I want to rip it, i just switch it to sport mode while in Auto. Then, I floor it and it takes it to redline everytime.

Yeah sports mode is perfect most of the time. Manual really only has an advantage if you are letting off the gas and then flooring it again for whatever reason, as if you do that in either auto mode the SST will not be real happy.

I think most people just like the feel of shifting manually though.

i think ur referrering to a regular automatic with a torque converter donut, we have wet clutches that clamps and loads depending on situation similar to a regular manual where you load (press clutch in) and clamp (depress the clutch pedal) depending on situations

one thing better with shifting in manual mode is if you have a tune or base flash you now have a 7600 red line which is nice to go up to if you are racing some1. but you probably shoudnt go up that high all the time. but im sure you would be fine because the evo x came with a factory redline of 7600.

I've heard that same rumor from TWO coworkers, one of them about their lexus.

I wonder what the basis for that is, even if the car has a torque converter.

Depends on the flash. I'm using GST and it is set for a 7000 red line. I don't really take it past 6500 to be on the safe side.

i use the auto mode for almost everything, however when i'm stuck in slow traffic where you constantly have to drive slow, i like using manual mode.

i feel the car sometimes doesn't shift right when you're driving in trafficy situations like that so i use it in manual..... sometimes it won't shift out of 1st, and if you slow down in 1st the car does a lot of jolting.

Same thing here... One thing I like about that is it feels like it's a manual car lol
But it gets tiring after a long trafficy situations...

Problem with slow and/or stop and go is that it's way too willing to put it in high gear to save gas, so I end up going to 3rd and back down to move forward 20ft. That's 4 shifts when I could've just stayed in 1st up to 3000rpm and back down, which is probably much less wear and tear and a lot smoother a ride.

Heres a similar question for you guys..

Do any of you just cruise by putting it into neutral?
Is it bad to go from neutral cruising to drop into D?
Nothing really beats the smoothness going from D to Neutral when I'm approaching a stoplight. Just wondering if it's bad to drop it into D when the lights turn green and need to put it into gear.

Thanks
