Vibration while stopped
Vibration while stopped
I officially had my first issue with the RalliArt today on my drive home from work. Depending upon what gear I am in and how fast I am going, when I decelerate, I can feel a vibration coming from the rear-end of the car. After researching this here, it turns out that most people have that issue in some way, shape, or form.
Today, though, was different. I was noticing that vibration a lot more often, and it was a bit worse. My drive home from work is all highway, and besides the usual vibrations, it was a normal drive until I stopped at a red light once I hit town. The entire rear-end of the car started vibrating while I was at a stop. The RPMs weren't bouncing or anything, so I was pretty clueless at that point. I stopped off at the gas station quickly, and let it sit, and the vibration came back again. I turned the car off, picked up what I needed, and when I turned the car back on, the problem was gone.
There have been quite a few issues that others have had with the transmission as of lately, and in the price range of $8,000-$10,000 to replace it, I'll admit that I am worried. Thankfully, I am still well within my warranty period/mileage. I'll be taking it in for the 30K service within the next couple of weeks, so I will bring the issue to their attention.
Any thoughts and/or ideas?

I know that in the manual it says that at speed when decelerating the drive shaft may vibrate. I know that in 5th when just coasting without braking the car vibrates a bit. Never at a stand still though. You hear any noise like clanking or metal grinding? How bad is the vibration?
I didn't hear any noises at all while I was stopped. I could just feel a strong vibration coming from the rear of the car.
I drove the car for a little over 100 miles today, and the vibration still has not come back. When I take the car in to the dealer for the 30K service, I will mention what happened and see if they can diagnose a potential issue from there.

I've always noticed the vibration while decelerating. More often than not, I am in 5th gear at about 40-45 MPH when it happens. The vibrations I had while stopped worry me, though.
I would quote it but I don't have may manny near by, when ever I get something new I always read the entire manual over twice. Its a little thing I do so i know maintenance and features etc. etc. I remember it saying something about vibrations in 5th gear specifically. One day I was on my way back from work and when I was in 5th and decelerating I felt a vibration through the wheel and the pedals. Pretty sure its normal.
These cars make all sorts of funny noises and clunks (example, when the car is at a cold start the AWD does some self checking, first time it did that to me the car jerked and I nearly had a heart attack LOL)
making my point now, if the check engine or ACD warning comes up on the dash, you got issues. If not I wouldn't worry as much unless it gets worse
