Most of us use a boost pill. It seems to work the best with the SST.

You don't need a boost controller, the ECU controls boost on our car. All you would need is a boost pill to assist you in better tuning your boost.

I think more succinctly put is that instead of using a boost controller, it is better to use the boost pill in combination with an ecu tune (several benefits being tuning the variable valve timing/MIVEC to aid with spooling up the turbo, fueling, etc).

Using a boost controller, or piggyback ecu, to tune your boost is more of a thing of the past (for mild setups) due to the increased tuneability and reliability from an ecu tune. Wilder setups may still be better served by a (high end) boost controller or piggyback setup, but it is not the preferred or better method for milder setups...and even then, there's guys running FP Reds (or bigger!) using ecu tunes and not having to go to a standalone/piggyback solution.

If you want even more control of your boost, you can get a 3-port boost control solenoid. Requires a different tune though, of course, than the pill.
