X swap exhaust manifold question.

I purchased most parts needed for the x swap today. My question is which exhaust manifold should I purchase? Megan racing on ttp is 299 or purchase the oem for around 500. Thanks. And also the megan should fit with any o2 eliminating downpipe correct? And the down pipe should directly fit my Borla catback?

I was thinking about this too, for when/if I ever do a twin-scroll swap. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Megan Racing... I've heard too many stories. For $299, I'd rather just wait for an EVO owner to ditch their stock manifold... shouldn't be more than $200 to $250... and that's if you can't get a local hookup.

Agency Power also offers headers, and though they are about double the price of the Megan Racing headers, they are made of a higher quality steel.

megan manifolds come up with too many "cracking" stories/experiences from google for me to consider. Isn't worth risking over $200 for me

buy a used oem manifold. There should be a few in the forsale section if you want to spend less than 200. If you want something better, go with the map short runner for around 500 i think.

So how prevalent is this exhaust manifold cracking? Are 5-6 runs at the strip enough to crack one?

The OEM exhaust manifold should be more than enough for you to use on your turbo. Check out this link and read the second and forth posts:

I think what Mike was saying is that the cost benefit ratio is not really there for the tubular manifolds.. at leas the ones that actually are designed well.

I would go for used stock any day over a megan......

However, if you want to get the absolute most out of the stock X turbo (for whatever reason)... buying a used stock mani an sending it to MAP for porting and coating will cost you almost as much as buying their uncoated short runner tubular mani.... which you can wrap yourself with a $50 DEI kit.

I have one of the internally broken Megan manifolds here that also took out a motor. I am not a knee jerk Megan hater. They actually have some decent parts for a reasonable price. Lots of times the same part as a pretend Japanese manufactured part but at a Taiwanese price. But this Megan EVO X manifold? Yikes! Run. Maybe once they take this internal divide out. Just not now.

If you need a Chinese tubular manifold for some reason, look at MXP.
