K&N Filter cleaning/oiling and now issue.

Hey i decided to clean up my K&N filter seeing as how I have put 60k on it. I cleaned it up according to the directions...and let it dry completely (took about 18 hours to dry) then had a friend oil it for me as I was gone. Turns out it was oiled on BOTH sides of the filter...and possibly too much. Now the turbo sounds like it is whining...the whining gets a higher pitch with more boost. I don't know what happened or see how it could cause any damage...may clean my MAF now but no codes have been thrown. After i heard the noise I changed it out with a different K&N Filter and still the same whining noise...I believe it is the turbo...it almost sounds like a SC. Car still runs fine and is driving normally...just a wierd whining noise coming from the turbo (I think). What are your thoughts on it?

Most likely you haven't got the air filter seated properly and have an air leak. Make sure you get the two tabs on the bottom of the air cleaner box engaged. You can usually see it if its wrong as there will be a gap at the bottom of the filter
