my shifting between 2k and 3K is primarily because of 2 things: 1) helps improve fuel efficiency for daily commutes, and 2) keeps me "calm" ... had a 'road rage' incident not too long ago that i'd prefer to avoid happening again if possible.

The car is trying to tell you it wants you to drive it faster.....

The SST is pretty inconsistent with its part-throttle upshifts. It's possible to tune out some of its clunky actions, but a few gremlins will still remain.

I heard that the 09's had more shift shock while the newer ones let the clutches slip a bit more to make shifts smoother.

The transmission also learns your behavior it seems. If I drive sane for a while in manual, it'll shift pretty early and keep it in high gear for fuel efficiency.

But if I thrash it around in manual for a bit, then put it into auto, it'll try to hold a lower gear longer.

Reading this makes me absolutely want to avoid getting the TC SST.

One of the things I hate about the auto on my truck is that it has a similar problem as mentioned here.

Floor it to pass someone, suddenly someone swerves into the lane you just took forcing you to let off the gas. Then you move over another lane (big highway) and floor it again. Instead of downshift, upshift, downshift (what you'd expect) the truck downshifts for the first WOT, refuses to shift when I lift, then decides to disengage the transmission letting the motor free rev about 1 second before I go WOT again, then it revs high and catches hard as it upshifts.

I can easily get the truck to do it and it drives me nuts. It handles big throttle changes very poorly. Sounds like the Ralliart does this as well when in auto mode. I think you guys talked me out of possibly getting a Ralliart instead of an Evo.

I roll auto normal alot. Definitely times feels like slips. Sport auto good crisp shift. Always shifts better under load the manual stick is backwards from my old car so do use it paddle shifts are ok in a straight line. I also agree lots of noise from low speeds come out. Overall the transmission likes being drove aggressive. But not abusive.

Okay, well, let's cut through all the fluff and finish this thread once and for all... with an answer you'll like...

Q: What's the best way to drive the SST?

A: Manual

End, fini, Elvis has left the building... good morning, good afternoon and goodnight.
