Exhaust Loudness?

I ordered a Buschur Racing 3" S.S. Catback Exhaust and a AMS High-Flow Cat for my 2013 Ralliart which I plan on installing this weekend. I know my state prohibits cars without mufflers and that they can't be louder then 90dB. Wondering if anyone has this setup? Will it be louder then 90dB? If so should I swap it for a better muffled system or have resonators added to the system? I don't mind loud and even paying off a ticket here and there, but a lot of people have been telling my that the system will be insanely loud and I should have just gotten straight pipes... The car is tracked and I want the maximum performance out of my car. Thanks in advance!

What im about to say came from the mouth of a Dallas police officer who i just asked. But he said that there is no 90db limit for vehicle exhausts. And as long as it is legal, meaning no test pipes and can pass inspection, then you should have no problem. I work with these guys every night and i trust them when they say stuff like this. But then again, that was from an officer. He didnt show me the actual law. He may be wrong. But i have been running a turbo back exhaust with a test pipe and have yet to be pulled over.

How about, there is this thing called the internet, and US laws are readily available to the public via the internet. Spreading false information about laws that can be verified at the source is just wrong.

There are statutes in the US DOT regulating exhaust loudness:

http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regul...px?menukey=325

Key sections:

Allowable dB levels: section 325.7
How the measurements are made: sections 325.51 - 325.59

According to 325.7 the dB limit on a stationary vehicle in a "hard site" is 91dB measured from a distance of 10 to 11.5 yards.

Additionally, some states have their own noise ordinances that are more strict.

Thats why i said the officer may be wrong. He also said that he, and other officers in our group, have not heard of a db limit. I was also told by a commercial vehicle officer that they, maybe meaning people he works with, do not enforce a noise limit. I was not given a clear answer by them if there was a db limit. But nunyas cleared that up. Regardless, i will still run my test pipe lol. Sorry for passing on false info. I was just saying what i was told and did not mean to spread false info.

That very well may be. There are plenty of municipalities (the majority of the US) that do not enforce Federal statutes, but on the flip side there are states that set even more strict exhaust noise standards and enforce them like there's no tomorrow.

I agree with you. I know when i lived in california, san jose bay area and the 209 area code, it was a night and day difference. In the valley in my home town, they could care less. But in san jose, the CHP love to pull over cars and impound vehicles for things like straight pipes and what not.
