I am having a hard time tracking down the specific manufacturer of the part in question. I am fairly certain that it is made in-house. However, the only references that I could find to Mitsubishi patents in the past several years applied to the CVT INVECS-III system. I have gone through all of JECS (UJ), just for good measure. I can't find anything, save for one patent in 2004 (estimated time frame for Ralliart TCU development). I am trying to confirm that it is the correct part, but I can't find it sold anywhere in the world. I will keep up the search. I must have an MR TCU! |
My German is getting pretty good, by the way. I am almost understanding their gibberish.
I may have to learn Japanese, too. That probably isn't a bad thing to learn, though. |
Are those TC-SST overhaul instructions directly from mitsubishi???
|
They appear to be.

Makes sense. Each mfgr will have a different application and have to tie it into unique and proprietary engine ECU coding for the platform. But the :mitsu:shift schedule is rudementary at best! There are so much smoother schedules for other Getrag products. It is like riding with a kid new to clutches {pcfreak}...
Can shift but not smoothly and not always recognizes when to downshift and when to coast (clutch in). |
Question NFSLancerRA,
Are you researching to potentially add something to your product line? I'm assuming this is for a launch control/super-sport mode to be added to the RA correct? If so, and lets say you were able to track down the actual manufacturer of that part, would it be possible to just order the TCU unit from the MR and put it in the RA? I guess it would be a plug and play thing... I'm not savvy in any of this so my above question may seem rudimentary, but maybe keeping it simple can help us get to the bottom of this. If there's anything to do to help, let me know. I'd like to one day be able to get this on my car too. Any scrapped EvoX's in your area? Maybe you can get one off an accidented one and see if it works with the RA. That being said |
The theory is that it is in fact plug and play. I see no reason why it wouldn't be, either. The clutches that I have been working on came from a wrecked MR. I looked at buying the TCU, but it didn't work out.
Either way, I want a new one. The likelihood is that I would have to strike some sort of deal to get them. The good news is that I have a contact that can buy direct from JECS. The bad news is that I don't know what to order or if I even can...YET. If I can source this part (and that is a big IF), I will relay that information through this site. If we have to put together a group and buy ten of them, I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I don't plan to sell this part. I just want one. |

I need to find an Evo MR TCU badly. I'd hunt through the junk yards for one but not many Evos in the South. Found this: http://car-ecu-repair.com/mitsubishi...rol-system-21/ And this seems to be referencing transmission logging: http://srm.cnlaunch.com/productDetai...%C1%D0&Parts=4 |
I know that Bryan posted pictures of a TCU unit awhile back. Bryan, I have figured out where the manufacturer information is located. Do you still have the TCU?
|
What if Melco is still the TCU manufacturer and not JECS?

In fact I believe the MR and RA TCU share the exact same part numbers, just a different ROM. It might be easier to figure out how to flash the ROM into the TCU then source TCU's but I haven't looked much into it yet.
