I was stopped by the police today to inform me that my brake lights were out. The 3rd eye (or center ) light is working, but the others aren't. All other lights are fine. How can you tell if the bulb is gone? Hard to see inside it. Thanks.

 

Check the fuse. Its rare for both lights to go out at the same time.

 

Also (IIRC) there are two brake switches (separate for the third light) on the pedal assy. It could be a bad switch if the fuses and both bulbs are good.

Check the bulbs with a multimeter.

 

Take one out and look to see if the filament is broken.
