Foglight Delete Project

Starting to do some design work on the FLD kit. Need to know your thoughts on design. I like my fogs, so this is not really gonna be for me. But my goal is to make them, so that it makes me say "I gotta have em"
I've researched them and found 2 main styles.
The open stock style:

And the duct style:

Which one?

Here is what I have roughed out:
(Remember this is the idea stage)

Obviously make sure your duct faces the sst cooler. The way it faces on the opposite side it would direct all the air away. I vote ducts and a pulling fan and an engine oil cooler on the pass side like the evo. Too much sorry:lol:

Another great idea would be to keep the fogs but make a cf cover to cover the crappy black plastic part!!

lovin all the fiberglass projects. i am a fan of duct style with matching mesh (center grill mesh)

nice work mate and will be keen for one when complete!! as to open / duct - not really fussed either way, just something to get rid of the the foggies and to direct the air to the sst cooler :)

sweet work!

Just emailed Mitisubishi.Pa.rts.net about whether or not a Fog Delete Kit was available. Answer = No.

Glad to see that someone is working on a solution. Don't like the cracked fog lamp lenses I have now. Would be more than happy to use something that helps keep the SST cool.

I like the idea of keeping the fog light, but having a duct instead of the stock mesh. And a reshaped fog section. I'm not a big fan of how the stock 2010 fog covers stick out further toward the middle than they do on the outsides... I think the fog covers/surrounds should be close to even with the actual fogs...

So, duct w/ fogs :)

Good on you ggcruz. Thanks for stepping up for us. If I had any kind of skills like this I would be doing the same thing. Good on you sir, good on you. :)

updates.
I have decided to try the duct. I will continue progress on this thread.
Here are a few pics of what I did today.

I used my foglight bezel as a mould so that i could have the correct shape to start from.

I created the duct as a separate piece, so that I could use the mould for both sides. I will cut a hole into the bezel mould and adjust fitment. Then I will shape to the desired shape.

Good work man, I am impressed. Its great to see someone on here take things into their own hands when it comes to things they want on their RA, very cool. I am new to import cars and sincerely mean this not to be mean but what is the point of a fog delete/duct kit? I know that it will direct air flow to the sst, but is it mostly an aesthetic thing more than anything else?

jcm308 Aug 25, 2010 08:25 PM

:spin: Awesome work. Can't wait to see the finished result.
